Where can I find it? I don't have a WinXP cd on hand.

What the heck is sndvol32? It's not running in my processes.

Correct. Except my copy of WinXP apparently had it deleted, which basically means I can't control the sound volume of anything except Winamp!

EDIT: and no, I don't have a WinXP disk or I wouldn't be screaming about it on here

There should be a checkbox for "Show volume control on the taskbar". Is this checked?

It unchecks itself, then when I hit the 'advanced' button next to it, it says 'the sound volume control program isn't installed please use add/remove to install it' despite the BLATANT fact the file's on the hard drive!

Sounds to me like my Registry is forked...

The file runs just fine, it's just that whatever Registry doohickey that associates the sound volume control to that program is fucked.
