Where can I find it? I don't have a WinXP cd on hand.

Correct. Except my copy of WinXP apparently had it deleted, which basically means I can't control the sound volume of anything except Winamp!Destructionator XIII wrote:sndvol32 is the volume control. It comes up when you double click the speaker icon next to the clock, or you can start in in the start menu.
In a default WinXP install the program would be located at
C:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe
Do you have WinXP Pro or H0me?Destructionator XIII wrote:OK, give me a moment, and I can pull the file off one of my computers.
Well CUUUUUUUTE! Now when I paste the damn thing into my windows\system32 dir, it sez 'Sndvol32.exe already present. Replace?'Destructionator XIII wrote:XP Home. Here is the file on my little server. Hope it helps.
It unchecks itself, then when I hit the 'advanced' button next to it, it says 'the sound volume control program isn't installed please use add/remove to install it' despite the BLATANT fact the file's on the hard drive!Uraniun235 wrote:Control Panel -> Sounds & Multimedia
There should be a checkbox for "Show volume control on the taskbar". Is this checked?
The file runs just fine, it's just that whatever Registry doohickey that associates the sound volume control to that program is fucked.Destructionator XIII wrote:Might as well try replaceing the file in system32. It might work. I am currently running XP in an emulator trying to recreate the problem so I can see what is going on better.
I should have some kind of answer for you soon.
