Fucking RAM!

So I bought a stick of 512mb RAM today. Problem- fucking thing wont' go in the socket, no matter what I do. For 30 minutes I try and push the fucking thing in. Then I take out the existing stick, and try and put it in there. No dice. So I try and put back the existing stick. Still no dice. My thumbs are fucking killing me from repeated attempts. Then, by sheer goddamn fluke, the new stick gets inserted in the slot previously used by the old one. Now I can't for the life of me get the old one back in. FUCK! My thumbs HURT ... my god it's a simple operation wtf is wrong here? I've done this heaps of times goddamit!

Dust in the slot?
Thermal dilatation?

I assume you're not trying to push them in wrong way around, right?

Nope.

Hmm?

Thank you I understand the notch in the socket and what it means ...
Are the clips open?
Yes.

Angulation problem? Of course, you've probably tried all the angles... loose plastic in the slot... wonky pins, a little bent, or with sprue, and not matching the slots...

Hmm...I believe he's trying to say that the plastic parts that hold the RAM may have become slightly distorted from the heat.

This may sound stupid, but did you get the right type? Early on before I knew the different types, I had actually bought the wrong kind and the sticks wouldn't go in.

It's the right kind- the new stick of RAM is what I've got in currently. I just can't get the old one in now. I've never had this problem before, it's really frustrating.

Hmmm ... possible. And worrying. They don't look distorted, of course.

Okay, if that's the case, I'm going with the warping. It's either the socket is fucked up or the stick has been damaged somehow.

Got it in today. Don't ask me how, I don't know either.

There ya go Vympel. Nothing a sufficient amount of duct tape and hammering couldn't fix.

It was probably you had to have your ram stick PERFECTLY level to get it to go in without a hangup. Trust me my computer is like that with ram, i had to get a fucking level and hold it on my ram stick to make it go in.
