I cannot get it to even Install, creating shortcut, compability mode, dosn't help.
Any ideas? Will sound work afterwards or will I also need to emulate that?

Also Vbsound can help with the sound, but Dosbox is one of the best emulator programs out there

It works in Dosbox, but it's slow. I suggest you try and find the Windows 95 edition.

Bounty, I have the Windows 95 edition, more commenly known as the collectors edition.
Melchoir, what should I do in Dosbox to enable it to work? Mount C, mount the CD rom drive as D and try to run?

If memory serves, you need a DirectX 5 file that is no longer in current versions. (You just download it and stick it in your windows/system folder, IIRC)
You may also need VDMSound.
You may also need to fiddle with XPs compatibility wizard on the Tie95.exe file. (I think you need to download a version from Microsoft that gives more control over compatibility)
I have it working here... but I forgot what all I had to do to get it working.

Its only a 100MB, zip it and send
The problem is not running it(I'll find those files somehow), but getting it to install. *gives up*
Thanks for the help everyone, I'll go fix my Win98 box back from XP.

I think the DirectX file's what's needed to install

You will likely benefit from the use of a frontend, like
D-Fend
EDIT: But if you have the Win95 edition, I'm not sure that it will work (and it could be slow)

I managed to do it using the Compatibility Toolkit (its a download somewhere on the MS site).
Can't remember what options I changed though, sorry.

I tried the patch Brock posted, but I can't get the install screen to clear up. I'm not sure if it's because this is an older version of the game or not (it's a CE, so I doubt it). Anything I can do to fix that? Change screen settings?

If you are having troubles with the DOS version, this might work:
http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/classicgames/tie.php
The Microsoft toolkit is up to v.4 right now, and qfixapp.exe does not appear to be available, for some strange reason. If you have your XP installation disk, the v.2 version should be there.
