I'm about to try Knoppix (after Bittorrenting it) on my computer. Are there any things I should know before trying it on my NTFS volumes?

Last time I checked, NTFS support is read only.

But, I have no experience with 2.6 distro's, this may have changed.

I don't know if Knoppix ships with captive, So I think that write support for NTFS is out. But I could be wrong.

It's this one [BITTORRENT LINK], something called 'GamesKnoppix 3.7-0.2-EN'.

I believe Knoppix ships w/ captive, so it does have NTFS write support. But that's standard knoppix, not sure about your specific variant. It shouldn't trash your NTFS volumes though.

A Linux distribution that can be run directly from a CD, without having to install anything to your hard drive. It's useful for people who want to try out Linux before comitting to creating a Linux partition.

Apparently it can also be installed to the hard drive like a normal distribution, and many people have done so, implying that it has some advantages over other distros in addition to its CD-running capability, but I haven't done too much research into that matter.

I think the advantage of installing it to HDD is the hardware detection. I didn't like it- was a bit unpolished.

apt is broken on Knoppix, making largely useless.
