I've been eyeing The Bards Tale for a few days and I downloaded the demo, but the demo is to dark to play and I'm wondering if the actual game would be like that or not. Anyone have any experiance with this game?

Beaten the X-Box version, and the game is hilarious in both dialogue and visually(though on it's highest setting, a tad diffcult, but worth it).

So yes, go get it.

What about the graphics card? If the demo works with our graphics card on our laptop will it be good for the actual computer game if we buy it?

My concern is that the demo is too dark to play, even on the highest brightness setting, could that just be a problem with the demo file?

I don't want to buy it for my pc and find out it's a graphics card problem.

Is it always dark? Or just when you play the game? If it is always dark then it'll probably be your monitor. If not then.. dunno, maybe find a place in which you could rent it like at Microplay? But then you'd have to drive over to Ottawa to see if they have it.

It's always dark, but it's a laptop monitor and it's only a year old. I've got the ingame brightness cranked all the way up and I have no way to crank up the monitor brightness that I can see.

what make of laptop is it Cpl?

if I may make a suggestion, try fiddling with the power settings for the laptop. I know the Toshiba I'm using at the moment has a insystem software setting which controls the brightness of the monitor, it should be in your Control Panel/Power Settings selection.

Alternatively, you could go into your Nvidia or ATI control panel to fiddle with the brightness.

Your laptop doesn't control brightness with a FN key + Left/Right Arrow? Oo; I can't recall ever seeing one which didn't do that.
