D&D Recruitment Thread

I've decided to DM another Faerun game, this time set in Calimsham. Any interested players should post here. Instead of playing via the forums, I've decided to run it either over AIM or OpenRPG. We'll have a gaming session either once or twice a week, and I'll try to find a time that satisfies everyone.

Rules: Starting character level is level 10, standard 32 point buy. No one may use any race with a +2 level adjustment or higher. Standard MM/Guide for Faerun (NOT Monsters of Faerun!) PC races are allowed, as are all the Player's Handbook races. All feats/classes from the Player's Handbook/Guide to Faerun are allowed, but if you want something special, contact me with the information, and I'll decide whether to allow it.
Character sheets should be saved in text format and emailed to me. No alignment is out of bounds, and I'll try to keep the campaign as open as possible, but I do have a good long story line written out, so keep that in mind before derailing the game and starting a brothel in the Astral Plane.

Possibly, new players will always be welcome unless the group gets unmanageably large.

Count me in. Though it has been years since I played D&D, so could you PM me with how the 32 point buy works?

up to a certain number attributes cost a certain amount with the higher the attribute the more it costs. (Players handbook)

Also will you you use a sorceror variant for balance such as this one?

Edit:
Also can we use characters with a LA?

Okay. Are we using 3.5? Because the latest Player Handbook edition I have is 3.0 (I know there isn't that much of a difference, but still). Is the 32 point buy like the attribute selection for KOTOR?

Also, what is the limit as to where we draw our feats from? Are certain books off-limits?

One of the books I have is called Feats, and is basically a compliation from a number of different gaming sources. I imagine there are some you would not want (like it has feats regarding firearms), so should I clear any feat I take from that book through you?

I'd really like to do it, but seeing as I'm time-zonely challenged as a German, it might be a bit problematic to get a time slot I could live with...

I know it's a bit predictable, if a little odd, but would a partially demented dwarven (I will try another race some day... honest! I tried a half-orc once, I swear!) druid/master of many forms be acceptable? I think I can come up with a half-way reasonable back story.

It looks interesting, I'll certainly consider it.

ABFF: sure, but I'll need the master of many forms info.

Glad to have you guys aboard, by the way. :)

I'd like to join. There are, however, 2 problems.

1) I've never played D&D before.
2) I don't have the books.

Problem 2 can be quickly fixed. However, if Problem 1 is insurmountable, I'll understand.

Yes, just PM me with the feat you want and I'll accept it or reject it. This applies to anything else, really; items, etc.

Hehe, always glad to get a new player. :D If you've ever played any other RPG, you'll most likely find D&D is quite easy. Don't worry about the rules so much; I can help you create a character, and I can handle all your rolling, etc, for you while you learn the ropes. And if you have no D&D books, just google System Resource Document, it has everything you'll need, and it's FREE.

That's mighty nice of you. :) I'll probably need a ton of help, as the closest I've come to playing an RPG is the 40k thingy in G&C. I've been itching to get involved, however.

All you need to do is just come up with a character concept right now, I'll handle the meat and potatoes of it.

Can we use feats/races/prestige classes from Dragon or any other official Wotc book?
(If I quote it for you, theres a rcae variation from dragon ["spark] that I want to use)?

See above; I'll have to see it before I can make any sort of judgement if its outside of the DMG/MM/PHB/Guide to Faerun quintet.

Right now? Yipe. Okay, brainstorm.

Half-Elf intrigues me, but I think I'll go with either Human or Dwarf. Yeah, the Dwarven stuff looks nifty. Lawful Neutral. Since I really don't know that much about the setting, it would probably be best that the character doesn't know too much about it either. Probably Fighter class. Any chance of him having a pet?

How's that for a start?

I do have a couple character ideas. The first one is a guy who's a normal everyday fighter...

...until the undead show up. Then he turns into a tank. (I'll PM you the feats that would be involved in that. I'd have to run up to my apartment at school to get my books if I can't find them online, though.)

Supposing that doesn't work, I'll probably take a look at a few rogue prestige classes in Song and Silence (maybe I could be a Dread Pirate! Arrr!). I'll try to see if I can find some of the stuff I'm looking for online.

I'd be willing to play as long as it's at a time I can be around. I may need some help with character creation, though, since I haven't played FR since early 2nd edition. I'll probably be working up a cleric, and there may be a prestige class I want to run by you if I can find the Dragon article.

Done. Think shifter, if you're familiar with it.

GNOMISH PALADIN!

I've had a hankerin' to try out this NWN character in P&P form for a couple years now, I've only really been able to roleplay him during my stint on A Land Far Away's beta servers. I'm not too familiar with D20's D&D from a player's standpoint, but I assume I can stick to roleplaying my actions and let the DM sort the roll-playing out.

The basic gist of the character, Blublo Phillippei, is he's a halfplate-wearing, 4-foot bastard sword-toting, self-professed noble and defender of light and justice and all that bupkis. Actually, the small east Amnish Gnome community he's from is comprised almost entirely of self-professed nobles and defenders of light and justice. They're not much more than fancy-dressed farmers, gem-cutters, and traders, but that doesn't stop them from spreading the good word and professing that their divine powers are the benevolence of their noble goodwill itself (nobody really knows what deity grants their powers; it could be Helm due to their basis on the studies of Helmite Paladins, or some Gnomish god amused by the Paladins of the House Phillippei's cause).

I'll have to check my game files to see just how I typically build the character's stats. I also have a rather large file listing House Phillippei's histiry and population, for soem odd reason.

Can I play an amoral character (CN or NE or N), probably a sorceror (using the dicefreaks variant) if not that then a fighter/barbarian.

Actually, screw my previous character ideas. I've been checking out the SRD and found something better. How's about a Xeph Soulknife?

Gotta love Psionicists.

Hey, maybe if I join at the start my participation won't guarantee the swift death of the game.

Will post character as of sometime after Saturday, currently 200 miles away from books.
