End of line for the cards
Standing Down
The Forceware 75 release removes the Geforce 2 series from the codebase. Meaning the pre 75 drivers are the last drivers that will contain Geforce 2 or eariler series coding.

NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!
I heard that the earlier drivers are still supposed to be released in legacy packages, at least for Linux (need driver updates to continue working w/ new kernels).

They can just not upgrade to the newer drivers. Or they could just scrape the money together somehow and upgrade their cards.
Either way, even if the drivers did support the GeForce 2, I don't think the cards themselves would've had the hardware capabilities to render the newest games and stuff anyway, so yeah.

Problem is newer versions of various OSes (esp. Linux whose point releases often breaks backward compatibility) won't support the older drivers- then again, I can live with 2.6.12, and I'm probably getting a new computer within a year.

Boo...hoo? GF2s are what, five years old, now, give or take? The real question is if they're tanking support for the GF4 MX440, as that's a Geforce2 anyway.
