Any Mac users out there?

I'm on an iBook G4 1.2 GHz with only 256 MB RAM. I definitely need an upgrade soon. But I am running OS X 10.4.2 Tiger, which is by far the only way to compute.

So any other Mac users out there?

No, you're the only one left.

Just kidding. I have a 1.42 GHz Mac mini. I got 512 MB of RAM which really is necessary, and it runs fine for what I need to do: music, IM, web, email, and text editing.

12" 1.33 gHz G4 iBook, 512 MB RAM, 40GB HD. Assuming Apple ever manages to ship the fucking thing (it's been delayed twice).

One of my longest used comps was a 233mhz iMac with 32megs of RAM, until it died last year. :) Venerable old girl, she was. Lisa bought another one, a G4 iMac (dunno why she didn't spring for a G5), but I don't use it, since it has a paltry 256 megs of RAM.

I've been thinking about getting an iBook, but I just can't bring myself to really like the operating system. I'm torn between its shininess and its bizarre foreignness to someone who's used to a standard Windows environment. The fact that if I migrate I won't be able to use some of my programs is a bit offputting as well.

Newest version of Panther? You mean 10.3 with the latest update from Apple online or actually 10.4 Tiger? Meh, this is just a small point, Panther is still light years ahead of anything Windows can produce. Gotta love that Expose.

To RedImperator: Delayed twice huh? That sounds really odd, usually Apple is very good about delivery on online orders. You should talk to them about it, they'll probably give you a discount.

Apple just refreshed their iBook line, which may have accounted for the delay.

Same here, my strawberry G-3 Imac 266, 32mb ram died...I think it's the powersupply.... gonna strip it for the ram and HD. I still have my 300mhz tangarine Ibook with 192mb ram, 10 gig hd and airport card.

The harddrive on mine simply up and died. I had that thing for longer than I can remember, 5 or 6 years.

Oh yeah! I love Expose. I feel crippled in Windows now. I'm looking forward to Tiger. I got the Tiger discs with my Mac mini, but I haven't installed it yet because I'm playing an old game that doesn't run on Tiger.

Yeah I just heard about that today. Looked at the specs, they're quite good. The new iBooks are basically just lower-end PowerBooks now. That extra 10 GB of space and that 512 MB of RAM would be nice for me...

Man I gotta upgrade.

Dual 1.8 GHz G5 with 2 GB of RAM, 280 GB of HDD space total and a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB. I've also got a Revolution 7.1 both analog and digital signals to my Logitech Z-5500's. (As well as the built-in optical out.)

Yeah, that seems to be it. I like that the price I paid for it actually went down (I had upgraded to 512MB, and now it seems that comes standard, for less). Still, it's annoying. If I had known, I just would have waited to order.

"Expose"? What's that? I'm afraid I haven't run into that.

Do you have OS X 10.3 Panther? If you don't, then you don't have Expose. If you do, or have a later version like Tiger, then you do. Try out those F9, F10, and F11 keys once in awhile and you'll see what Expose can do.

Ooooh, yeah. That stuff. Yeah, I've got 10.3.9. I didn't know that stuff was called Expose, though. It's so terribly handy. I love it.
