Well, since nobody has a thread on it...
Apple updated the Mac Minis and iBooks this week.

The low end ($499) Mac Mini got nothing more than 512 MB of RAM standard (FINALLY). The $599 Mac Mini also got 512 MB of RAM, and built in Airport Extreme (802.11g) and built in Bluetooth 2.0 (previously it cost an extra $100 to add these). There's also now a $699 Mac Mini with all the above + a DVD burner. No speed or storage increase however.


The iBooks have better processors and GPU's, plus motion sensors and trackpad gestures, and now built in Bluetooth 2.0 (they already had built in Airport Extreme). Oh yeah, and 512 MB of RAM standard.

Damn, I just looked at the specs for the new iBook. Comes with an additional 10 GB of space, for a total of 40 GB. The built in Bluetooth and 512 MB of RAM is very nice too.

Wish I had bought my iBook now, I would have gotten a free iPod mini and iIwould have larger HD space, faster memory, AND Bluetooth connectivity. Oh well...

That was the longest gap between iBook updates in Apple's history according to the Macrumors buyers guide. Keep an eye on that.

PowerBooks are approaching end of life cycle...and with the recently announced low power G5's...I wonder.

Yeah, but I bought my current iBook over a year ago. I don't think I could have waited an entire year, I needed a new computer. But an easy memory upgrade should solve most of my problems anyway.

If they hadn't taken so long to come out with those new iBooks, I'd probably be using one now rather than the PC laptop I got instead that's twice as powerful but would have cost the same... so thanks for the delay, Apple, 'twas quite helpful for me ^^
