Hi don't know if anyone has posted this yet, if so sorry for being redundant.Yahoo just brought out konfabulator the desktop widgets software. Used to cost $20 dollars approximately but now Yahoo is hawking it to everyone as a free download.

Does anyone here use konfabulator? I haven't downloaded it yet but it seems to be an windows version of the apple dashboard.

Downloading now, I heard but hadn't gotten around to getting it.
How easy is it to use? As good as Dashboard? If so I'll install it on my mother's PowerBook as well as mine. She was impressed with the feature on Tiger but is a cheapskate like me
And any convenience I can give her means one less phone call to me for computer help :s

Well I just downloaded and installed it and it's absolutely wonderful! I doesn't eat up as much memory as I thought it would.
What IS it?
It's basically the same as Apple's dashboard and allows you to put items (clocks, calendars, weather reports) right on to the desktop.

Alas, it is something of a memory pig. I run it at work to show a calendar, weather, traffic and a to-do list.

Eh, desktop applets are redundant- gnome panel applets and firefox extensions do everything I need (except traffic and details within a calender). Linux equivalent is karamba or gdesklets.
