Need to undelete some files, stat!

Okay, my brother managed to accidentally delete a bunch of essential Word and Excel documents while cleaning out the documents folder, and I need a way to get them back ASAP. I'm already running a couple of undeletion programs that I picked up on download.com, but I'm fairly certain that one of them (GetDataBack) isn't going to work, as it's designed for FAT while the hard drive uses NTFS, and the other (Active Undelete) is already 76% through and has yet to find anything. Any other ideas?

Kick your brother in the testicles. You're not getting those files back.

What about windows system restore? Do you keep that on?

Eeeh... while it's possible, I seriously doubt that would work. It restores *saved* and installed information, not information that has been deleted because it assumes that if you get rid of 'em, you don't want to get them back...

Then kick him again, to make sure he got the message the first time.

Call me crazy for asking a silly question, but the files were deleted and not just "deleted" to the trash/recycle bin right? I'm asking because that's happened before to my little brother.

If that doesn't work here freeware version that seems to work fine, it supports the FAT and NTFS version. I managed to recover my own files when my hard drive crashed.

I think as long as you don't download or install anything large. The memory isn't overwritten and should be recoverable.

Unless he has really bad luck, and all the undelete programs he's been downloading have overwritten it.

It even gets back regular data files, not just system settings. I've had to use sys restore a couple of times as a result of that, and some files I"d deleted after the last save point were promptly restored. Of course this depends on whether or not Rogue uses windows.

It could be tried, but its more aimed at fixing your system when you fuck it up, rather than recovering documents. I wouldn't count on it.
