[ASVS] To those who are in the STGOD
Since Yahoo and my ISP seemed to have lost my passwords I cannot post to ASVS. I would like any ASVSer who reads this to pass along my reply that I wish to keep the STGOD as it is. If the majority chooses to reset then I wish to keep the Mafiosi Empire and keep it's location as it is. Please post in advance the new STGOD's tech level and so on so I can adjust the Mafiosi accordingly. Thanks!

Actually it was about at least 3000 years since the great collapse. I hope the reset would be more in line as a fast forward a century or two if not maybe a millenia but with the current powers but including new ones.InnocentBystander wrote:Golly, we are on the second iteration of an offshoot of the asvs stgod universe. We completely chunked the reboot after Halite when making the STGOD here.Enigma wrote:Actually it was about at least 3000 years since the great collapse. I like how we over at ASVS dealt with Halite. :):) Everyone in the multiverse got to see her ultimate humiliation. :)lolSirNitram wrote:We completely chunked the reboot after Halite when making the STGOD here.Enigma wrote:Actually it was about at least 3000 years since the great collapse. Care to give us a brief overview?
Thirdfain wrote a fairly nice one for our universe.
Thirdfain wrote a fairly nice one for our universe.
Thirdfain wrote:Some brief backstory to the game:
Crumbling history texts, corrupted datafiles, simple legend, and, in a very few special cases, living memory all retain information about the era before the fall (Commonwealth Standard Notation, "BF".) Vast star-empires stretched the width and breadth of the Galaxy. Interdimensional portals brought the wealth of a thousand alternate realites to this one. Vast fleets of warships plied the star-lanes, following clear hyperspace routes to every corner of the Galaxy and beyond. The Boyd Collective. The New Republic Military Dictatorship. The 6th Imperium. These names, and more, described the vast superstates of our Galaxy.
Then, it came. War had always been a fact of galactic life, even to the extent that the destruction of entire systems was hardly unheard of, but never war like this. Her name was Halite, and there is nothing in the archives of the Commonwealth besides hearsay and legend as to who, or what, she really was. Her fleets ravaged the galaxy, and the great nations took sides in the war to end all wars.
This was the Fall, the Cataclysm. After a final Great Battle, in which the last of the powers arrayed against Halite and her servants, victory was achieved- but only at great cost. The power of the Old World was broken, and even the highest of the Grand Nations was turned into a skeleton of it's former self. The hyperlanes were clogged with debris and the remnants of dead stars, and horrific technological nightmares stalked the dead streets of ravaged worlds.
It was on this stage that the New World was formed. It is now the era After Fall- AF in Commonwealth Standard Notation.
A handful of the old powers remain, diminished but still mighty. The Star Kingdom of Serenity is bereft of it's true queen, but it has survived with a fraction of it's former glory. The Corporate Sector still trades, deals, and manufactures as it always has, though it's contracts have dried to a mere trickle compared to the flood they once recieved. The Kzin Patriarchy survives as well, maintaining control of the ancient forge-world of Five Fangs. And finally, fabled Terra still stands, secure besides it's Universe Shield. The United Terran Republic, great great great grandson of the fabled American States, remains, though much of it's former territory has broken into successor states and free nations.
Now, we see a wave of new growth. The space-lanes are being cleared. Colonists are pouring into freshly-clensed planets. New polities are rising from the ashes of the Old World, and the stars are once again alive with the chaotic commerce of sentient industry.
There will be conflict, war, and violence in this era, but it is never the less a time for rejoicing. The end of barbarism is in sight, and a new Age shines on the horizon.

I think it's more of a second iteration of an offshoot of the second generation of the ASVS STGOD universe. The original STGOD universe was the playground of the Omnipotent Triumvirate, and it pretty much ended around the defeat of Transcend.InnocentBystander wrote:Golly, we are on the second iteration of an offshoot of the asvs stgod universe. Beings early on in the ASVS STGOD. Despite what Graeme says, it continued on but left most of the OT to contemplate the infinite.InnocentBystander wrote:Transcend..? the Omnipotent Triumvirate? The Omnipotent Triumvirate was made up of:InnocentBystander wrote:Transcend..? the Omnipotent Triumvirate? Who are these people?
Star Marhsall Kyle Knopf, Commander of the Third Assault Fleet of the Sixth Imperium of Man. His forces included many Asgard class Planetoids along with all the support craft to go along. The massed fleet of the entire Sixth Imperium destroyed Transcend's galaxy when he started to annoy the Triumvirate.
Lord Graeme of Dice, Defeater of the Boyd Legions, Tamer of Dragons, Ruler of Probability. His army consisted of a vast, limitless legion of knights and footsoldiers in modern armour but with archaic weapons, plus assorted mythical creatures. These included Death Cob corn cob assasins, Toenail Golems, Death Yaks, Moths of Wrath, and giant walking dice (Localized infinite improbability field generators). All of them trundled around the galaxy in the Worldship with many portals back to Lord Dice's home dimension, all surrounded by a Universe Shield. Lord Dice himself was considerably more powerful than an ascended Nethack character, with a full Gold-Plated Ascension Kit (TM), and a bag of holding with an infinite supply of Amulets of Life Saving. He was just a little bit insane and invented the tactic of "Ram them until they give up." thanks to his invulnerable, but weaponless Worldship.
The third member was Kynes of Earth. He was a master druid sustained by the planet and granted immortality. He was able to control Earth's ancient defense systems in the battles that took place before Lord Dice provided Earth with a Universe shield.
Transcend was an ASVS member who decided that he was going to create an empire to rival ours, but did so in the most annoying manner possible. He declared that his massive military buildup was "canon" according to some random sci-fi show, and proceeded to tell us that he was invincible. We captured him a couple of times, and tried to give him a way out, but he never displayed any originality. So we destroyed his galaxy and killed him a few times.

hmmn, looks like we'll be starting off with a slightly higher techbase than ASVS-STGOD Mk. II.
No matter, I'll still go for powered infantry, although maybe I won't go so batshit overboard on the baseline troopers. Give em armor plates over a NBC/vac sealed durable underlay with a backpack powerplant, a laser carbine w/ underslung HV grenade launcher for light anti-armor, and a laser pistol sidearm.
well, technically not lasers since they won't be shooting any photons with visible wavelengths.
Any problems their more reasonable armor poses for their survivability can be addressed with APC and hovertank support. With APCs & Hovertanks sharing a common design, so they can be swapped out on dropships according to missions.
