After installing HL2, etc, I registered on Steam and then tried to boot up HL2, but after putting in my username/password it said it was invalid. Does the Steam server happen to be down?

Well, I think I figured that out already.

Your username should be your email address.

I'm connecting to Steam just fine.

Tried both my username and email, no go.

double-check the registration details?

Aye, I did, and when I did a password reset, it allowed me in to change it.

Update: Okay, this is absolutely pissing me off. I can connect to steam, since I obviously created an account in the first place. I can get in, ask for a new password, get it in my email, change it, and then try logging in, but it simply doesn't work.
