All;
I'm shopping for a DVD-ROM RW Drive. Could you recommend the specs of one that will be good for authoring DVDs with the system I have?
Sys: Win ME
Compaq Pentium 3
127MB RAM
EDIT: Yes, I'm still looking to upgrade to Win XP!

Pioneer for teh win.
They are the drives on which media is tested on my manufactuers, and as such are very compatible. They're also decent, quality drives.
Whatever you go for in the end - DON'T BUY CHEAP. I got through 2-3 cheap DVD drives a year, and this current Pioneer one is getting to it's first year, despite heavy use.

I'm seconding Faram's recommendation. I just got my PX-740 (just plugged it into my new system a few minutes ago). While I haven't been able to burn anything with it yet, every user review I've seen raves about this drive.

Iomega's another good company to look for for burners. I burned a number of DVDs with their burner and never had much problems.

I've found my NEC-2500 to be a reliable workhorse. It's done about 50 DVDs in the last year and not produced a single duff one. I'm not sure what the 3500 series are like, but if like the 2500, it will work well.

No problems with my 3500.
