Why do you have to type "@hotmail.com" now?

Since when did Hotmail make you type in @hotmail.com each time you log in now (assuming you didn't save it)? Its really getting on my nerves, having to type in @hotmail.com each time I want to log in from a new computer (since my internet isn't up yet). Arg!! Just pisses me off.

Because you can also log on with an @msn.com address.

PM me your address and I could send one your way, assuming you haven't gotten one already. I've got around 50 or so available.

It's been like this for a couple years which raises the question, why the hell are you going back to shitty msn mail after all that time when you can get g-mail?

Yes yes yes, I know its old but its finally bugged me enough to raise some questions about it. I haven't bothered to change because well, I resist change, especially when it concerns changing an email, AIM, or something else.
(random side note: I'm at one of my college libraries and this guy across from me keeps staring at me, shamelessly....very freaky)
Is gmail that much better? If someone wouldn't mind, I would like to just try it out for a bit (in reference to various offers earlier).

Inertia. I have both gmail and hotmail accounts but I used to be so reliant on my hotmail that a significant chunk of mail still ends up there.
