A while ago, my hard drive fucked itself royally, so now a load of settings I used to have are gone. One such setting is displaying the My Computer, Network Neighborhood and the recycle bin on the desktop, rather than just the taskbar, and I can't find the fucking options now.
So, where's the options to display these fuckers?

Right-click the icon on the start menu, "show on desktop"
EDIT : might only work for My Computer
EDIT 2 : if the icon isn't on your start menu, right-click the taskbar->properties->start menu->customize->advanced and add it there. create the shortcut with "show on desktop", then remove it from the list if you don't need it anymore.

Also, you can right click on desktop-> properties ->desktop tab -> customize desktop.
You should get the option from there to add those icons.

I'm assuming you're using WinXP.
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
Switch to Classic View.
Double-click on "Taskbar and Start Menu". Click the "Start Menu" tab and select "Classic Start Menu". You're done.
btw, if you want all of your start menu shortcuts to stay visible all the time, simply click on the Customize button and uncheck "Use Personalized Menus".
