Nice pics, and really as much I have not cared for the bizarre one thousand twists the MG series has become, I like the game itself. It's nice to see that Snake is looking like his predecessor.
Well throw in a Snatcher/Metal Gear thingamombobber, that's cool...what it's for...given Kojima...who knows.

I hope that the "X years after Big Shell" is just a place-holder until they narrow down/reveal the actual point in time the game takes place. For one, that would be kind of inconsistant with the rest of the MG series, which has always had their points in time pretty concrete.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

I don't give a shit about Metal Gear anymore; the first game was simply
awesome; the second game was just utter shit.

Then you missed out on the third I take it, Shep, which was a right treat. Just because you may find the conspiracy theory somewhat implausible (it's a fucking secret gov't in a game with giant mechas!) doesn't mean the game sucks. The gameplay has always been there and the story is the icing on the cake.
I was distressed when I heard MGS3 would be the last one (especially after finishing it), but that was all a ruse. Kojima was simply keeping us in suspense as he unveiled his new production house and the final part of the saga, so I guess it was technically true the "trilogy" has been completed (gene, meme and scene).
And it'll be on PS3. I had wanted MGS3 to be next-gen, but this will do. A fitting end I hope.
I expect they will put a date on when this takes place. Remember, they have to rectify the problem that is Arsenal Gear sitting on New York like that. Unless they have neuralisers, they'll have to make a damn good excuse. I expect some serious events to occur over the (likely) few months after the second game this takes place. If you heard what Raiden was told and was told it was legit, would you sit back and accept this modern America?

I thought X years after big shell meant 10 years...
No, I dont think American or the world would take it. I think maybe there is a global power struggle going on between the patriots and some other faction (s). Hence, the occupied city setting.

Funny, my bro just brought that up too ("Maybe they mean ten years and everybody is simply overlooking that").
It seems like a pretty pessimistic outlook though. There's already a global war going on (thankfully not nuclear I hope) and even if the Patriots are uncovered, it's too late to stop them fucking up everything.
As to Snake, I maintain that it's genetic. He looks a bit like Revolver, but it must be the same ageing problem Solidus had and, no doubt if he still had his own body, our dear Liquid.
I'm getting City 17 vibes from the setting though. It was either that or space. They chose wisely.

Snake's Revenge had little to nothing to do with the rest of the series, and isn't considered canon. Unfortunately, the true second game in the series, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, has never been released in North America (although there have been fan-translations made.)MKSheppard wrote:I don't give a shit about Metal Gear anymore; the first game was simply

I think he was refering to the "Solid" line of Metal Gear games, not the NES games.Drooling Iguana wrote:Snake's Revenge had little to nothing to do with the rest of the series, and isn't considered canon. Exactly, there'd be no point bringing up those games in an MGS thread!
The first Metal Gear games are something that could do with a make-over for modern day standards, it'd give the history of the series a better light given the significant differences between the very first time we see Snake and when he appears at Shadow Moses.

That's essentially what Metal Gear Solid was. The gameplay of the first one at least is not significantly different from Metal Gear 2, and there are quite a few allusions to the first game (setpieces and boss fights).
I hear that Kojima doesn't currently want to remake the original Metal Gear games, though they have been ported to mobile phones in Japan.

EXCELLENT!
I just might buy a PS3 now, along with the revolution.

Oh, yeah, just found this too. Hopefully this is the last game to tie it all up, else we could be in for another Revenge title.

I'm not surprised. Big Boss (in MG and MG2) looks like Sean Connery with an eye-patch, Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss. Therefore, old Solid Snake should look like Sean Connery... with an eye-patch!Ford Prefect wrote:It has Sean Connery crossed with Solid in it. I am so happy.
I like them in order of appearance: MGS < MGS2 < MGS3; hopefully MGS4 will be even better than the rest combined. If you didn't like Sons of Liberty but did like Metal Gear Solid you will probably enjoy Snake Eater, most people did. However, you should probably wait until MGS3: Sustinence comes out, since it will contain more features and have the Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, included as a bonus.I don't give a shit about Metal Gear anymore; the first game was simply awesome; the second game was just utter shit.
I was never there gov, I never touched it.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Does anyone have a good direct download link? I dislike streaming and need to see Connery-Snake doing CQC.
Ahh, but Snake has a future eye-patch, aka "Solid eye system", with all sorts of whizzy extras.Adrian Laguna wrote:I'm not surprised. Subsistence looks pretty cool, not only will it have shiny extras, it will premiere the online multiplayer that MGS4 will also apparently have. However, you should probably wait until MGS3: Sustinence comes out, since it will contain more features and have the Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, included as a bonus.
