Got my copy of the Winter Assault expansion for Dawn of War. Anybody else manage to snag it? Anywho I'll give opinions later after I get a chance to play it. Can't wait to try out the guard.

I'll be at the local ebgames store 10 minutes after I get off the train from work; good opertunity to pre-order civ4 too

I played the Beta when they were showing it off. Even unfinished, the Guard's giganto-tank is... fun. Let's just say that. Or their arty peice that fires shells that cost more than your infantry squads.

I'm also looking forward to the changes/new units the other races are getting. It seems Relic completly overhauled the tech-trees of the other races.

Some definite changes. For instance the Bloodthirster needs the 'chaos projectiles' tech now to use.

I'm also pretty sure everything's got new build icons though I haven't played with the Eldar, Orks, or Marines yet.. chaos has scads of new icons anyway.

The guard are wicked awesome to play as. Lots of big kabooms and scads of troops.. plus I can execute cowards for my own amusement MWAHAHAHA!

I got it earlier today, baby. So fucking awesome. The Baneblade is just pure and utter kicking.

Not very long, actually.
Also, I've noticed that the Avatar now has 15k HP. I just played a skirmish in which I probably lost 300 squads to one.

I bought it today with a Game voucher, not installed it yet, though, and I'm afraid to since my hard drive seems to be rather fucked. The stuff on the back looks cool, though.

Anywho: The Imperial Guard is officially my new favorite race. Combined arms baby, YEAH!

Just got done killing off a shit ton of Chaos Marines that had destroyed my base. I had built a Machine Command or whatever the hell you call it in one of my allies' bases, with it built three Hellhounds, and with those and the two Guard squads that had survived the base's destruction, killed them all despite being grossly outnumbered by superior infantry. Such is the superiority of combined arms over one-unit spamming.

Yeah, Hellhound = the Morale Breaker.

I've a fondness for the Ogryns, you just want to take them home and feed them cake.

Kasrkin, they rock. A couple of squads of them with a Priest or Commissar and you're sorted.

My only real sole complaint is that I feel that the Guard buildings are too weak. For example, I garrisoned 3 squads in an infantry command bunker and some regular, vanilla Orks attacked. I beat them back but the bunker was nearly totalled.

now i'm not asking that IG bunkers are impregnible. BUT, it would be nice if they could take an assualt by basic troops without me needing to rush an Enginseer over to fix it. And don't even ask me about how i feel about the lack of decent anti-vehicle...

But other than that I love the add-on and enjoy crushing the xenos under the relentless wheels of the imperial war machine.

Yeah, with Space Marines, I wouldn't have been able to retake my base. Not a chance in Hell. Especially in the original version, when you couldn't build in allied control zones.
