gameplay demoIrish based Torc Interactive and AMD have released a new technology demo of Dreadnought, an upcoming first person shooter that's based on Torc's own Instict Engine.
The demo was designed to be run on AMD's Athlon 64 processors on a Windows XP Professional 64 based OS although the demo can run on lower PC systems at a lower frame rate. The demo is available for download by registring for free to AMD's web site where you can then grab the demo itself (AMD is using Filecloud for its download).
Filecloud also has two Bink format gameplay movies showing Dreadnought in action; one is a strict gameplay movie while the other shows the differences the game has running on a 64 bit processor versus a 32 bit processor. Here is a snip which describes the gameplay of the demo:
The Admiral Ushakov is an old Soviet Kirov class nuclear missile cruiser which disappeared in the Barents sea 4 years ago and was believed lost at sea with all hands. It reappeared off the coast of Iceland recently and is believed to have fallen into terrorist hands and is being used to carry out bio-weapon research. You play a Special Forces operative sent to investigate, and if necessary, destroy the research results and scuttle the Kirov. The demo kicks off once you’ve infiltrated the interior of the ship.
