Microphone isn't working on this computer

I have a Labtec microphone. Sometime before my last format it stopped working in Battlefield 2 for no apparent reason. No settings were changed. After the format, the mic has not worked at all. Not with any game or sound recorder.
My system has WinXp SP1 (as it did before the format), the latest chipset (Nforce 3) drivers, and everything else works fine. I use Nvmixer to adjust volume settings, and keep in mind that I've used sndvol32 and it doesn't help.
What really bugs me is that the microphone works with my dad's computer, which is a PIII system with unknown sound hardware. The mic isn't broken.
My mobo is the Lanparty UT 250gb. Again, it is Nforce 3, and I have the latest chipset drivers from Nvidia. If you have any ideas then that would be great.
