First off, to tempt NecronLord, we have
Eclipse of Existence, a mod to introduce the Necrons as a playable race. They've got video of Destroyers flaying the hell out of Chaos and Eldar.
Adepta Sororitas, the Sisters of Battle. Sadly, the site is French, but they're making an English language version.
Miscellaneous creenshots, Immolator tank, Arbites, Canoness, Penitent Engine, and
Exorcist tank. Oh. And their
builder unit is a close-combat walker. Slow as hell, though.
Adeptus Custodes, including a campaign based around the Horus Heresy.
Armored Company, evidently centered around making the Imperial Guard more armor-centric. This one just started last month; no screenshots yet.
Tau mod, with a demo available if anyone wants to try it.
There are others (complete list is on the
Relic forums), but those are the ones that look most interesting/actually have their sites up.

Pick up Dawn Of Steel, if you have an install no higher than 1.3 of DoW. It's very well made and loads of fun. It includes a Steel Legion side(Including Stormblade super-heavy tank), Grottank and Grot Gangs for Da Boyz, Jetbikes for the Eldar, and Compiler's enhanced Rhino mod(Razorback, Damocles, and whatever the artillery Rhino mod is).
Deep-Striking tanks fucking owns.

I'm pretty sure the artillery Rhino is the Whirlwind, which is already in the game.

No, this is a different one. Much lower range, but damn if it doesn't plow a path through Orkz. It mounts a bulldozer blade and a cannon poking out the front. Very short range, but do not stand in front of it.

Damn! The tyranid mod forum seems to be suspended right now.
And they had such good models, too!

Thunderer siege tank. Mounts a demolisher cannon, same as the vindicator, the Leman Russ Demolisher, and is the short barrelled cannon on the Baneblade.
Edit: If it is for Space Marines then it is the Vindicator. Imp guard, it would actually be a mod of the chimera, known as the thunderer siege tank.

Let's not forget the
Inquisitorial mods, best known for their Grey Knights.

My main concern: If one installs a mod, can you turn it off to play the normal version (so I can continue to play online), or would you have to uninstall it every time?

Since 1.3, there has been a built-in Mod Manager in the game. All modern mods are made to work with it, though it's best to use their included launch shortcuts if you want to play the mod and not the generic(There's some bugs).

you see that box that says "game manager"?
good
that's how easy installing/uninstalling mods for multiplay is.

Alrighty, then.
Asking this question elsewhere has yielded
this mod manager thingy, which might help, though if the game does this already then the purpose it serves is unclear.
By the by:
Terminator Sergeants. Just what it sounds like; the mod lets you add sergeants to Terminator squads.

Total War mod. Triples your unit cap. Best used on really gigantic maps.
Steel Legion mod. Related:
What the hell kind of tank is that?

Looks like a Stormblade or Shadowsword, which use the Baneblade chassis IIRC.

Stormblade. 'We are the personification of victory!' 'Behold, the glory of the Machine God..' 'Battlefield suppression unit..'
Lascannons, bolters, and a big-ass plasma cannon.

Well I'm going to have fun with it. Installing the mod now.
Edit: Stormblades rock. But not as much as Baneblades.
Edit2: And why the hell do Stormblades require Plasma Battery Research to build? That has to be the weirdest requirement I've ever seen...

Because the big gun on it is one huge plasma cannon.
And the weirdest requirement is without a doubt needing Chaos Projectiles for a Bloodthister. You need to research magic ranged weapons in order to get then greater deamon of the god who hates magic and loves butchering people in close combat

Its called a plasma blast cannon. Makes plasma guns look like sparklers. It is a titan class weapon.

Yeah, but plasma battery research is an upgrade on your power generators; it should have nothing to do with vehicles. Ahhhhh, never mind.
Say, did NecronLord ever see this?

No, this just torments me. My computer doesn't have the graphics muscle to run Dawn of War.

Though I have some very specific ideas on how Mephet'ran should sound. Perhaps I'll send them some content.

Back when I played Epic 40K, Stormblades were THE tank to have. That plasma cannon under those rules would knock the ever living shit out of whatever you pointed it at. They were especially good as Titan-stoppers.
And looking at all these mods just sealed it, I'm going out to pick up DoW in the next day or two...
