Honey, The Screen Is Convulsing Again!

So, my monitor is unstable. Literally. The screen is convulsing. Or at least moving slightly up and down so rapidly that it looks almost like its wobbling.

Any ideas? I've got an NEC MultiSync FE1250+. It's never been the best piece of hardware on the block, but then it's never done this, either.

I don't suppose there's a chance somebody else has run into this before, or that I just hit a wrong button?

I'd consult the manual, but I just moved and I don't know where the box is. I'm going to hunt online for an electronic version now, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

How old is the monitor, and has it been transported or otherwise moved around a lot over time?

Have you put speakers or other sources of electromagnetic fields near the monitor?

Have you tried degaussing the monitor?

Has this set in gradually or did it just happen one day?

The vertical hold is knackered. There probably won't be a control for it in the OSD, it's likely a blown component or a dry joint somewhere inside causing it.

This kind of thing is usually covered by warranty. At least when I worked for NEC Europe we'd replace monitors for this.

Supposing his warranty is still valid, that is. If it's an old monitor, there's no option but to get a new one.

It appears to have been the speakers.

Thanks, guys.
