Hello, and welcome to another Forgotten Hope news update. The developers of Forgotten Hope are extremely happy to announce that Friday October 28, is the release date for Forgotten Hope 0.7 for Bf1942. If the impulse takes us we may make a small update in the future, or not, and of course we are still preparing another Fan Map Pack, but 0.7 is the last planned release for BF1942.
This mod weighs in at or above two gigs worth. It is the final BF1942 release and it is THE Mod for World War II multiplayer. Releasm with Fun. Guns have their proper ranges and pentration valvues. Ammo counts, bomb counts. Its all there.
The explosions and smoke are the best seen in BF1942. Not to mention the insane numbers of maps, vechicals, weapon kits and everything else seen.
Trust me when I say that this mod kicks so much ass, It could be retail for amount of polish it has.

Oh, my poor harddrive, my poor specfications! I'll just have to purge some gigas worth of shows and movies, it can't be helped. Gotta have this somehow and make it run more smoothly. All that lovely detail, and most of it will have to be shut off on my pc. =/
Kudos to the team for making this and spending years on it! It really does surpass the official game, fun as it was.

I haven't been involved in this release of FH I must say, I was way to busy with work to contribute.
Although *Shameless show-off* I coded the explosions, smoke and flamethrower graphical effects and the damage system for tanks and AT weapons.

If you ever need someplace to dumb a body, no questions asked, I am you man.
The most impressive sight I've seen in any video game was Outskits when three Katy's launched a full bombardment on the center flag loaded down with infantry, tanks and wrecks. My FPS dropped into the low thirtys as I watched from a nearby hill as the entire flag dissapeared in massive explosions, bodies, wrechage and parts flying around. Screen shaking constantly and the clouds of dust and dirt slowly settling.

I have to say, my eyes almost popped out of their sockets when I first discovered "Hey, each armored vehicle has its own unique and historically correct targetting sight!!!!"
Classy.

Yay, time to shamelessly thrust my college ethernet capabilities in everybody's face!
Oh, Christ, this looks amaazing. All the different weapons, all the different vehicles, flamethrowers!
YES! YES! YES! The ONE thing I always wanted on the Pacific maps was the P-38! My 194X dreams are finally a reality!

Ok, so if I have version 0.67, what do I have to delete before installing 0.7? Don't want to erase the wrong files, as I'm not PC-savvy... =/

Delete the entire FH mod directery in the BF area.
Let me just say of the Mod, it kicks much ass, muuuch ass. Weighing in at the largest of all BF mods with a shiton of every single thing.

Indeed. The sheer amount of thought and detail that went into this is making my head spin, and even if my K/D ratio has gone from 2/3 to 2/300, the atmosphere makes up for any number of times I get my ass kicked. Just last night on Wake Island, the Americans were bringing a column of men along the north-east part of the island to bear down on the airfield that had been captured, and the entire Japanese air force did a massive bombing and strafing run across the width of the part they were crossing. Between all the bombs that were falling and the tracers that were flying, something like twenty soldiers and vehicles got taken out in an awe-inspiring orgy of fire and chaos.

Damn, I really wish I could take part in this war atmosphere. I have BF1942 and played older versions of FH, but my computer just isn't fast enough to handle it well. I have to say I've had a lot of fun times with FH, but it is hindered by low FPS. I guess if I get a new graphics card it should solve the problem. I have a shitty Radeon 7000 and a 1.7 Gig P4 with 768 MB RAM. With a GF 6800 I should be able to run BF 1942 beautifully, no?

I just wish that the servers that were running the mod could keep roll-over names on - it really gets tiring to get a bullet in the head every time you try to determine if the dude in your crosshairs is a friend or foe when he's standing against the sky at 300 meters...
Not to mention the problem of flagpoles getting in the way of cannon fire on ships... >< ::tries to block out images of a 3-man TK combined with an insta-boot::
At least the AA is nice, though - if I know where the enemy actually is, I tend to be pretty good with taking them down. Of course, therein lies the problem...

Your computer will run FH just fine with a 6800 as long as your not trying to both fly and kick 4xAA on at the same time. AA is a non non with dive bombing and AA at the same time. Regular tank and infantry combat can handle it but considering the amount of large custom textures and shear amount of movement going on down below don't try kicking on the AA when flying.

Which means....?
Note, I have heard the term used before, I just don't know much about graphics issues in games.

In video games all strait lines are acutaly made of a tiny, tiny squares. Meaning that strait lines are squares corner to corner. In a normal ------ line its not noticable.
But in any curvey or otherwise line the "jaggies" as they are called are very notable
Anti Aliasing is a video card method of correcting these Jaggies on the fly. It however is very draining on the video card as EVERY single object and all SIDES of every object is getting this proccess run on it.
