I know there was a way to do this in Win2k, but is there a way to password protect a folder in Windows XP?

If you have XP Professional you can, in the same way as Windows 2000. You need to disable Simple File Sharing, then go into the properties for the folders and modify the Access Control Lists to your heart's content. Note: Administrators can always override your settings.

Anyone trying to get in who isn't on the Allow list gets a "permission denied" error.
