a WoW question.

Ok while playing wow this week (IIRC), encountred two alliance players who made some really stupid mistakes first there was this Gnome warlock (who higher lvl then) that tell didn't know at all how to play a warlock (I killed him/her/it practically by myself) and then there was lvl 22 human rogue called Humanshadow, who practically broadcasted his intent to attack some low lvls that were dueling near by (with pvp on), so all had to do wait the rogue to attack to kill him (neither of the low lvls got killed (IIRC)).
So have you ever encountered similar (or worse) acts stupidity and what were those acts?

Farming gold farmers for honor in Tyr's Hand. Just pitiful. Actually, anyone who's concentrated entirely on PvE tends to have no idea how to PvP. They're just two entirely different games.

I've gotten that sort of stupidity from Azshara gold farmers. They'll flag PvP and try to goad you into a fight. Unfortunately, frequently that is a very poor choice of move. For instance, me and a rogue in my guild went after a pair of rogue goldfarmers and we had to have killed them at least 8 times each. At any time, they could have waited to deflag and we couldn't have touched them but no, they kept trying to kill us to drive us away and kept feeding us honor. Morons.
Also, I've noticed huge stupidity in Battlegrounds, where the Alliance just can't win without Blackwing Lair / Molten Core gear. Seriously, in Arathi Basins in the 50 - 59 tier (where my alt is right now) are always horrible slaughters where our side, the Horde, completely brutalizes the Alliance in a few minutes. It's fucking sad.

What's worse is that once you hit 60, if you aren't up against dedicated PvP guilds, the PuG still has said gear. Seems the sort of people who farm MC tend to gravitate toward Alliance.
Also, how am I having trouble getting into a WSG game at level 17? It should be absolutely zero trouble to grab the a spot in the que before heading out to do barrens quests. Is it just the allies being the problem? Or am I seriously the only guy who wants to try battlegrounds at less than level 50? With this new system, you can level a character solely using the Battlegrounds! Maybe no one else noticed.

Meh. Call me crazy, but I don't go hunting PvP. Course that's largely because my two main characters, currently, are a Hunter (Yeah, like you can PvP with THAT deadzone) and a healing priest. Sooo yeah. My Warlock's a blast, when she has shards, but otherwise...bleah.

Most of the PVPers I run into are at least vestigally good other then at 25 I ran into a Warlock who was stupid enough to just wand me and throw on corruption and send his VW at me. I was a 26 undead priest. He didn't even touch Shadow Bolt or Fear. Meh. I just dispelled the Corruption, dispelled hsi VW shield when he threw that on, I watched him try to run away as I just basically ran behind him waiting for him to dot to death. *sigh*
On my Warlock main, I can say of the more fun things to do is to banish Gold Farmer's mobs in Felwood. They'll send all sorts of curses your way, and if you do it right they'll sometimes get killed.

Every game I've played of AB has Horde massively outgunning alliance. Why? Because my team is consisting of mixed PvE level 40-49's, while Horde team almost always are composed of all 48 and 49's with enchanted blues. It's pretty bad due to twink more than what I can tell.
Earlier near Stormgarde I got pounced by six Horde, all around my level give or take one or two. A warrior, a shaman, two warlocks and two rogues IIRC. I was dismounted by the warriors' charge, turned back, rooted, moonfired and then took him out quickly with a starfire crit. He was at about half health.
Then, the shaman frostshocked me and wasted all of his mana on shocks. I got a clearcast proc, used it to fully heal me, switched to cat and killed the doofus. Then while the other horde were running around and generally being incompetent, I nearly got a rogue before going down.
That's bad. When one person of comparable level and gear can take down 2 out of 6, with a 3rd down to the last 10 percent of it's health.

That happens a lot, poor players will get owned by smaller numbers. In DAoC I am often in a group that will go "zerg farming" and I have a vid with the last fight being Azeron (valewalker) soloing 5 people and winning.

It's different server to server I think. On Alleria (my server), the Alliance always has more people. Always. The majoring balancing point is that they suck balls.

Holy crap, they should have wasted you no problem. Hell, one of the warlocks might have had a shot of wasting you if he was competant. Sounds like you ran afoul of a bunch of WoW Kiddies. Sounds like they were shitty characters. I have a hard time imagining a warrior being killed by a moonfire and a starfire crit, even at half health.

Stupidest thing I've ever seen....
On my main (60 lock) I was farming RC and runes in Jadefire with a friend (60 priest). This 52 ally rogue attacks us in the middle of a fight. Since the satyrs are demons, I casually banish the thing and we waste him. Stupid, but not extraordinary. Warriors and rogues always try to gank little ol cloth wearing me, even when I have levels on em.
What stuck me as dumb is that he continued attacking us, over and over, sometimes at half health. We killed him maybe 30 times in 45 minutes.
And just to put icing on the cake, afterwards a horde rogue starts messaging me with "Make bread" over and over. I'm guessing he was a farmer, because he didn't understand that I wasn't a mage. Also the last thing he said before I /ignored was "ciao bao". Which I'm sure means "Make bread".
One other dumb thing I saw was a guildie of mine (58 hunter) dueling a 60 hunter at xroads. My guildie kept winning, over and over, and the 60 hunter keeps on challenging him, saying stuff like "you no pet" and "you pet you no pet".
And, possibly the worst moment of my gaming life, I was in a pug for MC and the raid leader bitched me out for not banishing a firelord. /sigh

another of these dumm moment there was a lvl ?? (read lvl 47+) Gnome warlock come to XR (aka the Crossroads) solo and having an Imp(!) as the minion. I killed her, twice infact with a higher lvl orc shaman (lvl 47 (IIRC)). I don't know about you but I never go solo with an Imp to places I know I would need real backup (the imp does about nothing but whine).

You ran into a Chinese Goldfarmer, no doubt about it.

Gold farmers are another beast entirely. Worst players ever.
Chinese plat farmers tried moving into DAoC but constant griefing and poor ability to play made them have almsot no progress. The real kick came when supposedly they had been told by their bosses to go to the frontiers (pvp zones) and get realm points to make farming easier.
Myself on my Druid (Primary healer, Primary Buffer, Secondary CC), Skark on his hero (Heavy tank) and Zungu on his Champion (Tank hybrid. 2h weapon and lots of instant debuffs) found a full group ( 8) of them farming keep guards.
Killed them once but let their cleric live so they could be rezzed. Minutes later we came back and found the newly risen group trying to hide in the water under a bridge so we jumped down and killed them again. Again we left the cleric alive.
Coming back a third time, we got to see the cleric suicide on keep guards without rezzing the group.

Arg, my best stupid WoW player story just got trumped today.
I was running BFD in a pick up group with my alt. They were all in the same guild and insisted that I join their vent channel. Unusual, but hardly stupid.
Then came the invites to their guild. I refused, all told, maybe 15 or 16 guild invites from all of them.
They were idiots. Usual idiocy, like using AoE around non-aggro mobs, stuff like that. But the best of the best came when I heard on Vent "Give me arcane intellect". I ignored it, thinking (obviously) he was talking to the mage, not me, a shaman. Five seconds later he shouts "ARKEM YOU RETARD GIVE ME ARCANE INTELLECT!" over the vent.
I /point, /laugh, and /hearth in the middle of a fight. Just after the priest went linkdead. To cleanse myself of the horror of low level pugs, I had to jump into AB with my lock and try to get rank.
Does anyone else have a rediculous problem with lowbie groups? Every time I try one, the priests DPS, the warriors stay in battle stance, and everyone runs around like a jackass getting as many adds as possible.

Well, it seems like a lot of your problem is PUGs. I mean...Jesus R Christ on a fucking platinum surfboard, PICKUP MOLTEN CORE?

We have that on my server because the guilds have gotten THAT elitist, and the other sixty level guys and gals don't want to group up and make a guild of their own for this purpose.

I was wondering...... what makes you guys play WoW?
I'm very interested in playing the game, especially after I gotten addicted to DOTA. I have virtually no knowledge of the backstory of Warcraft, as I only played Warcraft II and III multiplayer, so, I'm wondering whether this will spoil any enjoyment of the game I might have.
Although in order to play the game, i have to fork out a few k to upgrade my com first. Not enough RAM, better get a new graphics card while I'm at it and definitely replace my USB ports. My mouse refuses to work over 30 min without facing a connection problem and let's not talk about my USB hard drive.

You don't need to know a damn thing about the other Warcraft games to play World of Warcraft. It only adds to the experience to have played the back games, because there are locations and characters in it that appear in past games and it starts after Warcraft 3.
For instance, there is a location in World of Warcraft called Stratholme. It actually had back history about how it got that way in Warcraft 3, but you don't need any information from it to play and fully enjoy the zone. Undead everywhere and crusaders who are largely your and the undeads mutual enemy holed up in the biggest building. And the city is burning from being sacked by said undead.

I get the strong impression that a lot of WoW players know absolutely nothing about the lore. Many don't even pay much attention to the game they're playing, so they end up not even being fully familar with creature names. I recall once thoroughly confusing someone by referring to a mob named "Son of Cenarius" as a Keeper, and to another named "Daughter of Cenarius" as a Dryad.

I never really PvPed as my Warlock (except when I was bored and would lay waste to most of Ratchet), and now that I've started a Warrior I do a lot better, but so far, my experience has just been limited to the Battlegrounds, and goddamn, on Cenarian Circle, the Horde dominate Warsong Gulch. Since right now I'm only a 25 Warrior, I usually get pounded pretty fast, but usually I can hold my own against higher shamans mages and hunters. I find I just end up Hamstringing everyone until the big guys show up and get my ass out of there.
Although one time, Retaliation saved my life and I dropped like 4 guys. Other than that though, I'm a newb in PvP.
Anyone got pointers for me? Soon I'll be hittin the Barrens and all of that, so I figure I better be prepared

At least on your server the lowbies play WSG. Actually, could someone point me to a server where battlegrounds are really popular? I want to see if I can level a healer largely through PvP.

On my server after they opened the 10-19 Bracket, you've got twinks galore. There's rogues with dual crusader and +15 Agil enchanted weapons, +100 HP chests, etc...
Rather nasty.

Not much you can do, really. Warriors are pretty weak pvp until they hit 60 and start getting good gear. At which point they turn into unstoppable killing machines. You just don't have a lot of your good abilities yet. You need, need, need, NEED intercept and zerk rage for pvp. Period. You will get owned over and over with crowd control without them.
But don't lose hope. Warriors and paladins are, in my opinion, the hardest people to beat high end. They just have too many damn HPs to chew through.
So, long story short, forget about pvp right now. Focus on getting levels and cash, with short pvp breaks if you want to. But the level 60 BGs are a different world, and I think a lot more fun.
