I've tried alchhol+water with a very soft cloth, and it still smears up horribly. Does anyone have any tips on cleaning LCDs?

Umm I swear it said on my owners manual to not use alcohol....maybe I'm imagining things.

I think my manual said just to use a soft cloth, no solvents or water of any kind.

Personally, I use Tempo tissues, one dripping wet, one dry - the sequence of employment is obvious. If I use ordinary tissues, I might have to clean up the scraps of tissue fiber, but Tempo is tough enough to go wet without dropping into pieces, yet gentle enough not to leave scratches.
I also use them to clean my CDs - they have a better balance of strength and softness than anything else, including dedicated CD wipes in my experience. I've yet to scratch anything with a Tempo.
