Noo .... GPU fan is toast :(

I've been running Civ4 lately and since it is quite the RAM hog, I decided to buy some RAM. Best Buy had some PNY PC3200 for a decent price so I grabbed it and put it in the computer. Hrm, seems to be fine.
Then I fire up Civ4. It starts spontaneously failing. I think "ah, crap, the RAM might be bad " I'll run Memtest ... but time to check my temps. You see, while I could run Civ4 before, the sheer amount of paging it was doing meant that my computer wasn't actually that heavy stressed (save for the HD). I touch the GPU and it's hot. Uh-oh. I put my hand near the fan and feel nothing. In fact, I think I've been running my R8500LE for the last week or so near maximum thermal load, which has probably done Very Bad Things to it.
I doubt I'll be able to do GPU-intensive things to it anymore but in the meanwhile I used some rubber bands to put an old K6-2 fan on it. And after I finish restoring my laptop (/me crosses his fingers) I'll be running memtest on this PC to see if the RAM was inded bad or not.
