So, do any of the residents of SD.net play America's Army? If you do, what is your playername and what servers do you frequent?

EDIT: I am fully qualified, except for the last part of SF. I'm too lazy, and it takes a loooong time to finish.

I play America's Army, under the incredibly original and inmaginative username AdrianLaguna. I usually go to any server that has at least a dozen players in it. I, unfortunately lag like hell, it has gotten me killed a couple of times. I'm not sure if it is becasue my computer sucks (can't handle the graphics) or my DSL connection is not as good as I thought.

I'm incredibly incompetent at AA, many times I get killed by guys I haven't even seen. It's usually a couple of rounds before I get to see, and shoot at my first enemy. Most of the kills I get are because I somehow luckily managed to sneak-up to someone who was looking the other way. Even that I've managed to screw up (did I mention the lag?). However, the game is still a lot of fun, and I suppose my teammates appreciate the cannon fodder. I mean, someone has to sacrifice himself to reveal where the enemy is hiding.

Have you passed any of the extra training missions?

Also, PM me with times. I'm GMT-8

I'm a pretty much fully qualified infantryman whose just about finished SF qual (never really been bothered getting around to it).

Haven't played for a while, though played it a helluva lot when it first came out.

I had it installed and played it some a couple of months ago, after uninstalling it some six months before that. Finished all the single player qualification levels, but couldn't be bothered playing it online long enough to earn the right to use SpecForce slots. Then uninstalled yet again when I got sick and tired of laggy servers (particularly with the ranking ones).

Played as always under CptAdder(Same nick all FPS's) played for a few weeks, dropped it for a few months, got all my quals after I got back on a few months later but dropped it agian because the RPG-74 is still the whored weapon, great accurasy and it explodes into a very large area meaning that the opposition always had someone with it(Or evenone with it) who would always get a few kills with it due to level design.

If Overmatch is out, I haven't updated yet (due to my connection) and it's only been quite recently I've been able to play again at all, though I haven't due to being busy and other games on my plate. It's one of those games I binge on for a month or two, then come back to it sometime later to repeat the process, like Soldat or Guild Wars.

EDIT: Fully qualified, 30 or 40 honor or so, I can't remember.

I play only occasionally, but I am now fully qualified (I only recently got around to fininshing the SF: E&E training mission though). Since I don't play very frequently I've only gotten to 17 honor, and although I play most of the maps, your best bet for finding me is on the Bridge SE map. I go by the handle "Da_Shika". I'd consider myself to be simply of average skill, since I usually only break even for kills vs. deaths.

Screw kills, it's all about the objective. I don't care if you can pull of a perfect string of headshots on the entire enemy team in one round, IMO the most skilled player is he who can accomplish the objective most effectively and efficiently, however that might be.

Completely true, I usually focus on the objectives anyway, even if I'm often killed before I reach them. Besides, kills only get you chicken feed in terms of score anyway, while the objectives on some maps can award massive bonnuses.

It really is. One time on Insurgent Camp, 2 kills, and 7/7 match wins. Best score out of everyone, by 300+ points

My best games were back on POSAusServer - Mountain Ambush.

Played every night with a reliable group of guys, became an expert at the map (always in the top 5 on server rankings) especially on the Ambusher side.

Though I might have been slinging a SAW (my weapon of choice on the map), everyone generally treated me as a squad leader because I had a knack for setting up devastating ambushes and maneuvres.

I miss that server and the old crew.

The other maps I played a lot of were Bridge, Insurgent Camp, Swamp Raid and the one where you para-dropped onto the airstrip (nasty as hell, as a decent team could get SAW gunners in place to cut you down on landing).

I used to play years ago, around the time of versions 1.0 to 1.6. I miss the times before Punkbuster was introduced.

Every squad needs a sniper spotter. :P

Isn't this the game the recruiters gave out free, then they actually put it in stores to buy later?

Taking damage of any sort, whether by falling or getting shot, results in your screen jarring, a brief reduction in speed, and the temporary inability to fire in addition to the pre-2.5 patch loss of accuracy. This means that the person that has the first accurate shot is the likely winner of any engagement because the person being shot cannot effectively return fire nor can they escape very well.
Hm. Interesting. Big change there, I think once I got used to it it would help me, given my style of play. A significant amount of my deaths were from getting in a firefight with some whore who strafed left and right while spraying the RPK-74. It would help my sniping on Urban Assault, too...
Increased accuracy when using iron sights:
You now receive heavy CEM (combat efficiency meter / accuracy) bonuses when firing with your sights up. There has been a corresponding decrease in accuracy when firing without iron sights or a scope.
Yeah, that was in the last patch, I'm loving it.
Bunny hopping has been effectively eliminated:
There is a 1-2 second delay in between jumps along with a brief decrease in speed after each jump. You're likely to die by jumping when being shot at now unless that first and typically last jump puts you behind cover.
Awesome sauce.
Changes to grenades:
The grenade kill radius has been decreased but they can now be thrown farther(although not as far as you could in 2.3).
Hm. Not sure how I feel about that one. I generally only use grenades to chuck into confined spaces, through windows, into cover, etc. so I suppose this helps me (instead of the map start spam on maps like Urban Assault).
Also, nearby grenade explosions(that don't kill you) will stun you now causing a brief "gun down" period where you are unable to fire your gun for 2-3 seconds in addition to being slowed down significant.
Cool, now I can strike simultaneously with units in cover when I assault. ;)
Bleeding / Medics:
You can bleed out quicker in this game now. Medics are much more important now than they used to be in AA.
Hooah! Woots for teh medics, especially since I'm frequently the only qualified one on the team.
