Poking on the internet, there are apparently wierd things going on with Mac OS 10.4's Samba thing, but noone seems to post clear answers.
My flatmate bought a ibook 12", and I grabbed an airport extreme at the same time. Wireless works, internet works, everything's fine - but when I use finder to try and connect to my fileserver, it crashes in the ass instead of asking me for login details. If I try to connect to one of the win32 machines on my network, it immediately pops up with the login dialog. I manage the wireless from my main (wired) machine, and I've got connectivity both ways.
I'm going back through my samba.conf and I can't see any massive mac-specific mistakes. If anyone has had experience with this problem, I'd appreciate some help. So long as it isn't 'do you have a connection' or 'does SMB work with other machines'.
