Help with using disc images

I burned a bunch of disc images to my harddrive using Nero, and then mounted one of them (Battlefield 2 DVD version to be precise) into Daemon tools. The autorun thing pops up fine, but when I try running it, it acts as if the disc is not in the drive. I tried running all the Daemon tools emulation options; none of them work. Now, for some reason on my old comp, I coul run BF2 fine this way, and most other games too. Any ideas/help?

Its the various protection mechanisms which install drivers that are screwing things up for you plus the fact that nero images aren't all that good at fooling them (ie. emulating the actual physical disc).
On your old comp you probably got lucky and had a motherboard that the protection mechanisms couldnt reliably check (for instance, currently nForce based motherboards are considered best at helping you fool the protection mechanisms).
You should try creating images of your discs with Alcohol 120%, it does a much better job at creating usable images then Nero (basicly, Nero works only for stuff which doesnt use methods which depend on the actual physical structure of the cd). Even then some of the newer discs using Starforce protection mechanisms are unusable except when used in combination with some other methods (dont know if I should go on considering the rules against illegal content).
The simplest way to go around it is to use a noCD crack, as stupid as that is when you have legaly bought the game.

I'll check out Alchohol and see if that makes any difference. Thanks mmar.
