Has anyone played this game? I am thoroughly enjoying it. Ship combat is almost like naval combat.
Plus it takes a lot longer to destroy your opponents and you are most likely to force them to abandon ship. Love the graphics and you can tell that this game was developed in Europe since the voices had no american or canadian accents. Does the voice for Marcus Cromwell sound a lot like Russell Crowe?

It's a nice game. Though it can get really tough occasionally

yup and I hate it when my ship ignores my commands and starts firing on ships other than the one I chose. The mission I am at right now involves escorting the Collossus along with a few other ships and engaging the Gorgs for the first time.

I liked it, but there are two or three missions that are next to impossible, requiring mutliple tries. The "where is the rest of the fleet" mission was the one pissed me off the most.

Oh, this brings me back, I had forgot all about it.
I played it when it came out and I came to one of the last missions where a nasty bug made it impossible to continue.

I liked it, but not as much as I wanted to. The problem really was that the demo mission was so good, requiring the use of tactics - I sacrificed one of my frigates so that the other one could get away, and the rest of the combat was desperate fighting against an overwhelming fleet - that the main game was a tiny bit disappointing by comparison.
I'm really glad that others have played the game though; it's still too good for a game to fade into the obsurcity of extreme geekiness....

Got to the mission where the infected ships of that allied aliens are heading for a gate - haven't gone back to it in a while.
I really liked the realistic begining (the way the ships move and fight, mulitimonth long flights within the solarsystem etc.) however once the game goes into full scifi mode it looses a lot of that atmosphere...

Lessee, I'm on the Colossus one too. I cleared it, but need to re-do it as I am sure the dazzling flare of light I saw as an unfortunate Sparta-Missile interface.
I do love the voice acting though. Especially Cromwell and Norbank. They make such a good team.

The micro really annoyed me: would it have been that hard to allow guns to fire on nearby effective targets? I mean, after knocking shields down (I also hate the rock-paper-laser weapons, but eh) the shield guns go silent, instead of engaging someone else while I kinetic kill the target. Irritating in large battles.

Yes, I enjoy the game a lot also. Though I find my strike craft to be somewhat useless. The PD systems are evil, and hard to disable. Especially if they have an evasion drive.
I find the ships a bit unresponsive. I'm sure they are carrying out my orders, but it just doesn't feel like it sometimes, and can make things frustrating.
Some of the weapons are a bit overpowered too.

Too much UNNECCESSARY micromanagement. Sometimes microing is needed, in Nexus it was too much.

Ever try putting them in aggressive mode? They'll do just that.

I have not yet played it, but it is on my list. I have the two preceding games that it is based on: Imperium Galacticum I & II.

Interesting game, and was pretty fun. Just had the frustrating issue of your ships not always obeying orders properly, so it took a lot of micro-managing to make sure they don't wander off to something else. It wasn't an issue with just one or two ships (when it was really fun), but once you got an entire fleet the micromanaging got to be a bit much.
