Once agian being a Fileplanet subscriper pays off big in the Beta Department, that makes it eight Beta's of Games I've gotten into now this year because of my subscription.

Beta servers go live tommrow and I'll give you all a first impression of how this D&D based(By the people who brought us D&D)

Basic tutiorial of what I can find in the VERY limited forums is race selection is limited Human, Dwarf, Halfing, Elf and Warforged.

Class selection Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rouge, Sorcerer and Wizard.

How all the 3.5 stats will transfer from D&D terms into MMO terms will be very intresting. For example one can't make the Wizard wait eight actual hours to cast spells after pre-selecting them.

Agian most of the Beta forums were wiped before letting the IGE/Fileplanet people in(Most forums have annoucments only, no posts).

Anyone else waiting on the game besides me?

People must like Eberron alot more than I thought if they're letting warforged in.

Nitpick: Wizards don't have to wait eight hours after preparing spells to cast them. They have to rest for eight solid hours before they can prepare new spells. There's a difference.

Grammer mistake there, I ment the eight hours to prepare them but it came out wrong.

Beta boards are still empty, I posted a few requests for info and see if any of the Alpha particpants saved any of it.
And for those wondering, IGE/Fileplanet betas are NDA free so we can talk all we want.

From my experiance alot of the people who don't like Ebberon like the Warforged and the Artifacer.

Wizards has been pushing Eberron for a while and the Warforged are the most popular thing in that setting.

No PvP = me not buying it, and it's rogue, damn rouges! Though I'm always interested in seeing other combat/game designs, if they're good hopefully future MMOs pick up on it.

Alright I've look at it annnd...
Mixed thoughts, it looks pretty good, customisation options of the face are excellent, besides that you can't change anything else.

I know City of Hero's and City of Villians have set the customisation bar so friggin high but still... I except a few more controls than just hairstyle, eyecolor and the like. No Height, weight or tatto controls or anything besides just core face controls. Hair colors depend on the race selected.

Combat? Mixed bag, hold down shift and dodging left and right gives you a chance to dodge aginst the slower monsters. I've just done tutorial with one human rouge and one Elven Soc.

Magic is... based on spell points. Wizards must prepare spells ahead of time, but magic eight hour statue things are in the inn's and in some missions. Set your spells for the day and click on the statue and you get eight hours worth in about fifteen seconds. It recharges spell points but heath depends entirely on your CON.
Speaking of stats, stat creation is on a 28 point buy system with all skill starting at eight by default and not letting you decrease it under there.

Magic selection is limited to level 1+ No handy cantrips for any magic uses. Steath is based on a Thief style handy eyeball system. (More eyes more visiable) I can't figure out how to wall crawl yet, maybe that's higher levels.

Anything else I forgot to cover?

Wall crawling would involve the spider climb spell. It should be available to wizards at first level.

No something the trailers have all show is Rogues getting their Sam Fisher on and shiming up various pipes and walls to get the silent kill on your enemy.

(Fun Pen and Paper D&D Fact, Watch your DM's Face when you told him the reason your 160 pound(With Armor) Ranger climbed the side of the house was to land feet planted on the Platemail guard below from a two story fall. Instant next snape? Good chance!)

Third actually, spider climb was made into a second level wizard and druid spell in 3.5.

All you need to know is a company named Turbine are the developers for the game.

Be prepared to play a game where they will do nothing to punish people who exploit/hack because they would rather lose 3 subscribers due to crap like that, then ban people.

They had a miserable failure with Asherons Call 2 and left a ton of people hanging in thier origional hit Asherons Call, they gave crappy content updates while stringing thier player along with false promises.

I played on thier PvP server Darktide for 4 years, the last 2 mainly because there was not a hell of a lot out there until WoW came out.

The PvP had its ups and down with the changes they made but Turbine wont ever take up the riegns in that area again, they found it to be to much for them to keep balanced or animation exploit free.
