I don't know how many people use the website, but apparently over the weekend 'hackers' broke into White Wolf servers and caused the site to shut down. They've threatened White Wolf to put up the information they've gathered publiclly unless their demands were met, however White Wolf is refusing to comply and is working on tracking them down.

Just a friendly notice to people who use or have used White Wolf's services in the past, if you have a password you've used on their website elsewhere, and/or you visit their website frequently, change your sensitive passwords. They're encrypted on WW's servers, but there's no harm in being safe.

Full information can be found on the White Wolf homepage. So, expect for the site to be down for a day or two.

For a second I thought this had to do with Shin Matsunaga's White Wolf homepage, which is a minor Gundam information resource site...

So what is this particular "White Wolf"?

They publish gaming books. Mostly their World of Darkness line, including Vampire, Mage, etc. They also do a number of D&D titles in their Sword & Sorcery line.

And here I was hoping for a poetic/ironic hack. Say, where the WW website just keeps recycling the same bullshit over and over and over without any REAL changes...

Oh wait. The company did that before the hack.

No, that's what they did after resetting the universe. Now everything is a Vampire clone.

It's one thing to do a fun hack. That's fairly harmless. (at least from a damage stand point)

What this group did is nothing short of industrial espionage.

String them up
