Seeing as there are a whole host of MP missions which have come with this awesome demo. And seeing as its turn based giving even those of us on dial-up a chance at playing with success, I thought that launching this thread might be a good idea to coordinate games against each other...

I'll be up for one nearly any time I'm online, PM or IM/MSN/ICQ me for a game.

Exceedingly large demo mirrors

Its a great little game in the style of Combat Mission (decide your actions, watch them play out) that supports all different sorts of MP. I've been having some fun "training" skirmishes between such groups as ALFA, "Vympel", GSG-9, SAS and SWAT teams. Many, many happy weapons.

The AI is sometimes a little shitty with the way it acts, but for the most part its a damn good little (hah -2gb demo) game.

While it looks nice, why exactly is it 1gb+? My DSL connection is crying.

Because every single file is uncompressed. Their using hundreds of fucking wav files and other uncompressed formats.

WAV doesn't actually imply uncompressed audio; you can put MP3 audio into an RIFF-WAV container.

Well, non-compression of resources is the only reason I can think of. The graphics aren't amazing (though they are functional). The sound isn't brilliant. And it measures in at 2+gb when installed... So, do you know of a reason?

Well, if you do an analysis of how much space is used up by the audio, graphics and whatnot that should tell you. Heck, they might even be using compressed audio - just that they have a lot of it and over-compressed.
