MMORPGs - Who here plays them?

Okay so my flatmate plays WoW and I just bought Guild Wars (go the Necro!). I was wondering how many people here play one or more of the various MMORPGs out there.

I used to play Guild Wars, might get into it again later but pretty bored with it now and right now I'm busy (ha).
I need a social life, I played GW for months and in the end did everything there was to do and left a bitter taste in my mouth... although I did meet one really good friend who I talk to in e-mail a lot. I'm just glad GW isn't like WoW where it's neverending, or I would never have stopped.

played eve for a short time, but i got bored with it very fast, i only made it to a cruiser before quitting (thankfully the download itself was free, so i didn't waste money buying the game)
playing WoW right now, seems pretty fun but i imagine i'll get bored with it eventually.

I've shot up control towers in Anarchy Online, Learned the meaning of true grind in Everquest. Tried my hand at Realm Vs Realm(And ran for it) in Dark Age of Camalot. Beta'd Ashron's Call I and II. Built, destroyed and went into Space with SW Galaxies. Saved the Day in City of Hero's And of course robbed banks and stole giant lasers in City of Villians And melted faces in WoW's PVP.
Played a few MMORPGs? Yes, yes I have.
Oh yes and Planetside, spent a few weeks helping the boys in purple take it to them.

I played WoW, but I got tired of grinding, and I'll only re-join if I find a guild to join (preferably from here)

I played WoW up at school for a couple of weeks, but the connection was so bad that I got lag everywhere, and I ended up getting killed at least once or twice a session from monsters I never even saw (they killed me when the lag was spiking.)
I disconnected when I left school for a variety of reasons, one of which was that I was coming back home and had actual real life friends to hang out with, another being that I just didn't have enough fun with it to justify spending $20 a month (or whatever it was) on something when I could play something else for free (i.e., Natural Selection.)
I'm pretty much done with massive online games until someone comes out with something that's more based on skill, like a Grand Theft Auto Online.

Currently:
World of Warcraft: Because my guild is filled with pussies who don't want to create another solid warrior for BWL and ZG runs. They farm MC without me easily...hell they can do it in less the 30 men. They just need to make Istral a kickass booty meatshield, and still they are working on it.
Having PvP rank drop just sucks. I can only kill so many horde per day before it's boring as fuck to go "Look another Hunter/Rogue who has the grasp a peanut has..." May stay on because a SD.netter got it and is on a new server. Some fun in that.
Starting:
City of Villains. Daltonator shall rule all!!!!

In cornological order i have played
Ultima On-Line (The game is dated now but it has an on-line community second to none)
Star Wars Galaxies (I melted the CD after a week)
Horizions (AKA Lag City)
Lineage 2 (AKA Gank a n00b)
Saga of Ryzom (AKA half made game rushed to retail to beat EQ2)
Everquest 2 (hook up the caffine drip)
World Of Warcraft (lvl 59 Tauren Warrior called Pounder and multiple alts arround the 20 - 30 mark)
Runescape (Which I play to help my niece)
City Of Villans (bored the shit right out of me)
WoW is the only one I still play regularily due to being an officer in a Guild, though i pop into Runescape and UO from time to time.

Oi...why isn't City of Heroes/Villains on the list?? I think it's a bit bigger than Dark Age of Camelot, dude. It may even be more popular than FFXI, though I'm not sure of the play numbers for either game (and am thus whistling in the dark).

I've played a few and stress tested and beta tested some of them as well.
Dark Age of Camelot, and Shrouded Isles
Eve
SWG, played from beta 2
Guild Wars
City of Heros, played from beta 2
WoW, stress test onwards
City of Villains, stress test onwards
And of course had a quick whirl on D&D stress test recently
So whilst I haven't played as many as some, I've still played a fair few in the past few years

I like the exploration phase of MMO's. That is, where I don't know what's waiting for me in the various zones, where I don't really know the pro's and con's of each class, where the cosmetic changes from leveling and getting new skills/spells/powers still seem like real changes. I tend to drag that out as much as possible, and am always the guy that's exploring far and wide, poking his nose into dungeons that are way too high level for him just to see whether he can survive. Once I have a good feel on the games, which takes a few weeks to a few months, depending on the MMO, I rapidly lose interest. That's why I'm a big fan of free ones, like MUDs and Neverwinter Nights persistent servers, and ones where you don't have to buy the CD up front. I'm also a fan of betas, because I'll usually have lost interest by the time it goes retail.
MMO's I've played in rough chronological order:
Various MUDs, most notably Carrion Fields and Aetolia
Neverwinter Nights (the original AOL one)
Everquest
Planetside
SWG
Various NWN persistent worlds
Darkspace
City of Heroes (started the Disciples of Wong clan)
SWG beta
Earth and Beyond (or something like that) beta
Ultima Online
Urban Dead

Formerly Guild Wars, but for a short amount of time.
Now, there's another MMORPG that I used to play that I'm sure no one here has heard of...Nexus. However, after playing on and off for about 3-4 years, I left mostly due to boredom, in-game corruption, and lack of support from the company that fathers it. It was seriously great a long time ago, but it...eh, I won't continue. It's one of those "endless" MMOs though.

Played WoW for a month and it was just horribly fucking boring, so I quit.
NPC: Hail adventurer! Bring me 40 troll penises so I can make my delicious Troll Penis Soup. Do this and I'll give you some Troll Penis Soup, plus the recipe for Troll Penis Soup.
Me: Oh fucking shit. Well, XP is XP I guess. LFG 4 TROLL PENIS!
Asshole Paladin: I'll come, but I'm not gonna be bothered to heal anyone or pay any goddamn attention to anything around me.
Newbie Warrior: Can I come? Someone share quest? Why is it red to me?
Token Female Mage: LOL I'll help! <3 <3 <3 LOL!
Perverted Elf Roleplayer: *smiles saucily as he saunters up to the group* Mind if I join you?
Me: Okay, Fellowship of the Penis, forward! On to Troll City!
::Ten minutes of marching ensue. Newbie Warrior is killed twice by trash mobs, and it takes another ten minutes just to get Asshole Paladin to resurrect him.::
Me: So we're finally here. Okay, I'll go in first. Asshole Paladin, you come in beside me. Then Newbie Warrior, then Perverted Elf, then Token Female. We'll go left at the first tunnel and...
Newbie Warrior: Leroy jenkins lol!!1!
::Newbie Warrior runs headlong into the building and a pile of monsters, everyone else follows for no good reason.::
Newbie Warrior: WTF im dieing!! help me!
Asshole Paladin: I get first penis.
Me: Throw him a heal, Asshole Paladin!
Asshole Paladin: WTFever. Busy.
Token Female Mage: LOL help monster <3 get it off me lol <3 <3
Perverted Elf Roleplayer: I shall come to thy aid, my lady!
Token Female Mage: im a guy lol
::Perverted Elf Roleplayer has left the group::
::Newbie Warrior has died::
Newbie Warrior: WTF why did nobody help me?!
::Token Female Mage has died::
::Asshole Paladin has died::
Asshole Paladin: WTF you noobs fucking suck.
::Asshole Paladin has left the group::
::You have died::
Me: Fuck this, that guy can get his own penises.

where you went wrong is that you played Alliance. Maybe i'm biased but in my experience with WoW the alliance was chock full of former CS players and general muppets. Those that know better chose Horde.

by Lord Revan
Yeah Alliance is bunch of A-holes (at least at Draenor) who wouldn't help unless you want to gank low lvl Horde players (I've seen several Alliance players at Valley of Trial (Orc starting zone) Mulgore (Tauren lvl 1-10 zone) or Brill (Undead Town in Tirisfa Gladesl(Undead lvl 1-10 zone)), but almost no Horde players in Alliance lvl 1-10 zones), Horde is much better (and yes I've played both) though it has it share of idiots too.
