Favorite / Most Used Trooper Class in Battlefront II

Ever since getting the Precision Pistol, I find myself using the Dark Trooper almost exclusively. Its jet pack and arc caster gives me instant mobility and closs range destructive capability. The award pistol gives me the range and stopping power to take out enemies from afar. When you combine all of these factors, you have one pretty unstoppable unit.

Second to the DT, I use the Engineer the most frequently. The ability to heal oneself and slice into vehicles is just too good to pass up. Throw in the award shotgun (the Flechette Shotgun) to boot and you have really well rounded soldier.

I just got the game, and it's a fun way to kill fifteen minutes I say. I absolutely adore using the clonetrooper, since that rifle is darned accurate, powerful, you have good armor, and SBDs are easy targets.

How do you get most medals and upgraded weapons anyway? I know you'll eventually be able to keep some. I want to see if I can 'keep' the award rifle, but I can apparently only get 1 frenzy medal per life?

I play exclusively as engineer, pilot on space maps. The ability to have a one hit kill works wonders in quickly getting the required amount of points to play as a hero.

In order to keep your award rifle (i.e. the Elite Rifle), you'll need to get the Frenzy medal 64 times. At this point, you'll achieve "Legendary" status and will be able to use that particular bonus weapon everytime you spawn.

As you noted, you can only receive a particular medal once in a life. Therefore, you'll max out on medals at a certain point in a single life. Furthermore, there are other bonus weapons which can be retained if you reach Legendary status for the other medals. These include:

Gunslinger: 6 kills with the pistol in a single life (Award: Precision Pistol; has greater stopping power and zoom function; incredibly useful)

Regulator: 8 kills with the shotgun in a single life (Award: Flechette Shotgun; just a deadlier shotgun)

Marksman: 6 headshots in a life (Award: Beam rifle, automatic lock on laser i think)

Demolition: Not sure about the requirements, I think its 6 critical vehicle hits in one life (You'll get a controllable rocket)

Technician: Successfully hack into a vehicle (You'll get a vehicle regen bonus)

And you already know about Frenzy. To be honest, the Frenzy and Gunslinger medals are the most useful. But you shouldn't also forget about the other medals (although I forget about the specific requirements):

Endurance: Increased Energy Regeneration (your stamina will replenish faster)

Guardian: Damage Reduction (This is incredibly beneficial, you'll be able to survive a near point blank grenade blast at this level)

War Hero: Damage Increase (I didn't see a noticeable difference, but every little bit helps)

But you don't have to achieve Legendary status to start reaping some benefits. Once you reach Veteran status for a particular medal, there will be a 30 second grace period where you'll be allowed to retain that bonus, even if you have died.

Someone should double-check my info, I could be a little off on some of them. Other than that, enjoy the game!

Oh and I also play as Jawa and Ewok. Nasty little beggars they are.

Scout Trooper.
I hunt snipers. I usually sneak up behind them and snipe from three feet away. That or chuck down a auto gun and run.
Best ever was bagging a sniper and then the three soldiers that tried to chase me out with the pistol.

That, or the Clone Commander or Dark Trooper. They just rock.

Oh, and the Award Rifle acts like a railgun, with penetration. Mysteriously, it seems to work better with crotch shots than head shots though.

Least favourite class: Engineer. I was up against a team that was pretty much all engineers last night. ¬_¬

For the Republic
primary:ARC or Jet Trooper
secondary: basic clone(though I do use scout Trooper or Clone Commander on some maps)

for the Alliance
primary: Vanguard or Basic trooper
secondary: Sniper
for the empire
primary:Basic Trooper or Dark Trooper
secondary:Shock Trooper or Scout Trooper

for the CIS
primary: SBD or Droideka
secondary:Sniper or Assault Droid

I use pilot/engineer only when I intend to pilot something or use a turret

note:I favor large Maps with Vehicles so that affects my trooper choices.

You guys are making me want to buy this game, stop it!

Not to get off topic but...
Is it a major improvement over the last game?

In a word, yes.

Although the not the best soldier class (I prefer the versatility of the standard troops, Clones especially), the Republic Commander's chaingun is an awesomely fun weapon, even though some moron with a blaster pistol can usually kill you before the thing gets spinning.

I just wish you could actually USE the big guns on the ships to hit other ships.....though as a pilot on the ship you can repair damaged systems

I'm most always a regular trooper. I got to keep the Award Rifle, and find myself liking it a lot. Also like playing as a Dark Trooper with the jet pack and arc caster. I almost never use any of the other classes, which is something I've been meaning to work on.

Regular or Engineer class.

The regulars have the carbine/whatever pistol(though the SBDs have the tri shot which allows a mini shotgun), and the engineer's shotgun is ugly.

The others are decent but can be eh in terms of killing power or lack of amount of ammo.

I usually play as a standard trooper on ground missions, since the rifle is among the easiest weapons to use. For space missions, I almost exclusively play a pilot, and have gotten somewhat adept at landing fighters in enemy hangars and attacking them from within (I usually end up crashing transports). When I fly, I usually take the bomber if one is available, and use it to go after the frigates.
