MY sister just got an iRiver H10 MP3 player for christmas.
Whenever she tries to upload files she ripped from a CD windows media player gives an error message that says "A problem has occurred in obtaining the device's certificate. Contact Microsoft product support."
Microsoft's online help says it doesn't know what caused the error and that they're looking into it. feh. Before we ring iRiver tech support I wanted to see if any oh you knew what the hell was going on.

Firstly, are the ripped files copy protected? (Tools menu -> Options-> Copy Music tab, uncheck 'copy protect music' box). I aplogose if you're highly computer literate and have alreadychecked this, but it's the number one reason for MP3 player returns where I work.

That may be it. This si the first I've had to deal with an MP3 player, so any advice at all is welcome.

A site you might want to check out is
www.misticriver.net
While some of the people there are idiots, the more active members are very knowledgeable. Though you might want to search before you post, as they get asked the same questions over and over again.
