XP service using SMTP/POP3?

For some reason, when I portscan myself, I see my computer listening to ports 25 and 110. Are there any native XP services that use these? I tried telnetting to them, and just get a blank response and am immediately disconnected. HijackThis isn't revealing much, either, besides native IBM programs...

System Internals to the rescue!TcpView will tell you which applications are listening on what ports.

BTW, if you have Windows Sp2 firewall enabled it doesnt matter a bit which ports are open as long as the firewall does not have an exception for that port & application.

I blame what ever POS ibm application you have running.

Okay, weird...I tried using TcpView, and nothing shows up that uses either of the two. Yet when I portscan myself, 25 and 110 are still shown as being open.

I have ZoneAlarm installed, and even it hasn't reported any oddities; all the programs that need the Internet are either my browser, Windows components, or games...
