Any ideas as to what is sucking up my virtual memory?

I have a gig of RAM on this PC, but I am trying to install something that says it needs at least 3 megs free to run. I can't figure out why I wouldn't have enough free memory. Is something sucking it up? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Umm, more information is certainly required for this. Did you even look at Task Manager?

Yes, and I still don't know.

What can I do to free up more virtual memory? I tried changing a couple of settings, in the control panel for virtual memory, but nothing is working. Would a hijackthis log or a screenshot of something help?

If you could post your task maneger process list, screenshot preferable we might be able to help. have you tried restarting the PC?

Restarted a few times, yes.

Is the virtual memory a function of the processor, or the actual RAM?

To answer your question: virtual memory is a function of the operating system.

Open Task manager -> Processes tab -> add columns -> tick "Virtual Memory Size" -> click on the new column twice to get the highest values up the top -> Send all your money to me.
