Okay, we had to reinstall Windows due to...well, let's just say due to. I need to get back into my old documents, but I had them as a private folder. Is there a way to get into them from a seperate account? Please help me out here!

I did that. It reads "Not Accessable. Access Denied."

If you're in as Administrator, then right-click the folder in question and go to Properties. Go to the Security tab, then Advanced..., then Owner, and take ownership of the folder.

By administrator, you're referring to the computer account being a "Computer Administrator," correct?

If so, I only have "General," "Sharing," and "Customize" tabs....

Pro, the old folder is home, if that's any help.

Also: The folder is write-protected and it won't let me change it.

If you know linux, get a live cd version of linux (like Knoppix), boot it up, and copy the documents to a new folder. If you don't know linux, figure out the administrator login (the user with username "Administrator", not just *any* computer administrator).

Are you sure it's not there? Look all the way on the bottom of the list.

I had that same problem a few years back--WinXP wouldn't let me remove the restrictions from the Properties window after reinstalling the OS. I took the hard drive out and put it in a computer running Win2000. Win2000 let me remove the restrictions on the folder by right clicking it and going to "Properties".

There's probably an easier way, but you might try that as a last-ditch thing.
