Sadly, I have yet to buy Mario Kart DS (I know, I know). However, I cast my vote for the DS anyway. I mean, it's got a built in sleep function!

For any DS game, if you flip down the screen, the system automatically goes into sleep mode. The game's current state is stored in flash, and the DS uses only enough power to keep the flash memory up and running. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with GBA games.

There's a portable system that doesn't have a sleep function? That would be really irritating, especially with a game like GTA:Liberty City. It's just a toggle on the PSP.

The original GBs didn't have a sleep function although the various GBAs do.

I want a Metroid Prime Hunters tourney.

My Mario Kart friend code is
532638
296170

Those who added me before may have to change, as my old DS got smashed and I got a new one from Nintendo, so my code changed (as it is based on your MAC address, unique to the system).

Also, I have hacked my game to allow me to play the 12 tracks that are usually disabled online, like Waluigi Pinball and Airship Fortress.

I didn't buy Mario Kart DS for lack of money before and while I could afford it now I get the feeling I should be saving for something. I don't know what any more though. I'll probably get Metriod Prime hunters when it comes out (though I'll have to get a new wriststrap/thumb pad first 'cause I managed to lose mine and you can't play a FPS without it unless you want to look/feel like a jackass. As it stands right now it doesn't matter though because all I have for DS in the Hunters demo that came with it and Polarium, and since I killed any fun to be had with the hunters demo from hours of play and polarium needs the stylus and not a thumb pad I'm not currently motivated to hunt down a new strap). Also, if it wasn't self evident I voted DS.

Yes they do, but it's only implemented on certain games. Golden Sun has it, for example.

I might pick up Mario Kart this afternoon if it's not raining :)

I'll hazard a guess and say it involves running code from a Passme in the GBA slot ?

The PassMe goes in the top slot to trick the DS into running whatever's on the bottom slot in NDS mode.

The bottom slot has an M3 adapter with 32 MB of RAM and a 1 GB compactflash cart and a patched version of Mario Kart that simply edits the part of the game that lists what tracks you can play online and lets me select the disabled twelve.

Additionally, I bought a $10 Flash2Advance cable and that lets me (perfectly legally) dump my GBA roms and then copy them onto that CompactFlash card and have them all on one cartridge. Plus I put some Dexter's Laboratory episodes on there and some homebrew games. :D
