I got a set of Logitech z-5300e sapeakers for Christmas, and I was considering buying a sound card for them.

I'm leaning toward an Audigy 2 zs from NewEgg for about $80

However, I saw an Audigy 4 from Best Buy for about the same price.

From what I can tell, the audigy 4 doesn't have THX certification... but can't find a good basis to compare these two cards.

Is anyone very familiar with these cards?

As far as basic or even advance gaming goes, all Audigy's are the same, minus the bubled software and inculded extras. The latest and greatest Audigy however can do the 128 sound option while the older ones are limited to 64 max sounds at the same time.

If you're willing to spend $40 more, you can get the X-Fi Extreme Music from Newegg. Yes, it cost 50% more than the Audigies you were looking at, but the X-Fi's sound quality is far superior to my old Audigy, and the X-Fi also has far better drivers and minimalist software.

All I can say is I am very happy with my Audigy 2 zs notebook.
