PC Gamer finds good Babylon 5 Freeware game

Buried in the back of the APRIL edition of PC Gamer I found, in the freeware section, "Babylon 5: I've Found Her" , an expansion pack "Danger and Oppertunity", and a link to the website. PC Gamer said it was very good for a freeware game.

It is, apparently, a 5 year prequel to the TV series.
Links to the main game are on the right, as is a patch, and several expansions.
I have never seen a Bab 5 episode, but I'm downloading it!

System reqirements:
* Windows® System 98/ME/2000/XP OS
* 800 MHz or higher CPU
* 128 MB or more of RAM
* 3D graphics card supporting OpenGL
* Approx. 220 MB of available hard drive space
Guess I won't be able to run it. *Sigh*

Or you can, you know, DL FS2 and get B5 for that.

This falls into the "Old news" bin. This game's been out for months and months and months, and has had a couple of threads dedicated to it on this board. But, it's good to see it getting exposure in a printed gaming magazine.

Hmm, an FS2 based derivative, or an I-War based derivative for a B5 sim. That's a toughie.

I'm pretty sure that while the I-war based would be more realistic, FS2 looks better.

I recall I-War 2 coming out after FS2 and with a pretty slick 3D engine to boot. If you're willing, you can easily make some pretty good models as with any game engine with decent support. I'd take gameplay over absolute top notch looks anyday though, especially given the whole point of a B5 sim is to be a proper space sim, not an aircraft sim in the void.

The FS2 today is not remotely compareable to FS2 of 99, it has gone open source and been updated up to DX8 graphics. It's pretty.

My thoughts exactly, if it was Pu I would understand though.

IFH looks pretty good to me.

IFH and TBP:
- are both free downloads
- are both good on their own
No reason to argue.

It's been out for years. I'm anxiously waiting for the Black Omegas expansion, which is announced, bit not yet released, though.
Have a very nice day.
