Now that I'm on broadband and have HDD space to go around, I must say that Steam is impressing me much more. The woes of updating over dialup and problems with authentication appear to be behind me. Plus, I can now finally play Rag Doll Kung Fu. Hell yes.
I am also looking forward to playing some of you bitches at Dangerous Waters. I am so awesome at that game that it is hilarious. I forgot that I had my CIWS on full-automated, so everytime I launched a harpoon/SM-2, my CIWS would auto-engage it and blow the hell out of it as soon as it cleared the launch rail. Not good.
Reviewing my opinion of Steam.

Yeah, Steams great, Valve are one of the few companies leading the way with PC gaming. I can seriously see a greater movement from high street to online downloads in the next few years; it allows developers to cut their costs hugely, leading to more original titles, and a more diverse genre as a whole.
But can they get the friends network operational? Nope. Not now, not ever. 'Back online soon' my arse.
