Apparently, someone wrote his own CSM to get the job done. Yes, now you too can run an inferior operating system on your Intel iMac. ;)

But the guy doesn't detail how he did it. He's just got pictures. It looks authentic, but the people running The Contest will have the final say.

I don't care. All I know is, Jack Bauer voices the ad to the Moby track from the end of Heat, which is all that caught my attention.

It could be something like VNC, but I think it's real since narf demonstrated some progress he made in the past. It's cool, but I think it would be best to direct efforts toward DarWINE so that we can evade use of win altogether.

That's awesome. I hope they write some kind of driver for it to use the Mac graphics card though.

I suppose the alternative is to get an Intel PowerMac when it comes out and put a PCI PC graphics card in it in addition to the Mac card.

The Intel Macs still use Mac cards, right? Not regular PC GPUs?

Also, it seems someone else has also managed to do it...

Could this not be done using VMWare or XEN?

They use normal PC cards now. No need to reflash the bios anymore.

Good thing they figured this out, I suspect a lot of people will want to try Vista on a Conroe Mac, and from early indications EFI support won't be there out of the box.

Well... the only Mac that accepts add in cards IIRC, is the Power Mac, which has yet to be released in a Intel form.

True, but it gives me hope for the Intel PowerMac.

EDIT: I don't know about Narf's solution, but BAMBIOS also has compatability mode for VGA BIOS specificly tailored to the Intel iMac's graphics card, so once its working theoretically games should be able to fully use the Radeon X1600...:)

Stupid security measures? Apple did nothing to prevent Windows from booting.
