Okay, right now on my Pc I have Windows and Linux installed. I want to get rid of Linux but keep windows. I was planning on just formatting the harddrive and re-installing Windows, but the XP installer is giving me useless BSoDs.

Now, the harddrive is formatted thusly:

Windows partition
Linux partition
Linux swap partition
GRUB partition, for the dual-boot.

Now, what I was planning on try is removing all the partitions except the Windows one and then expanding it to fill the rest of the space.

What I want to know is: Would this bugger everything up?

And also, what software would be best to accomplish this? Apparently, PartitionMagic could, but they don't seem to offer a free trial sort of thing. Are there any others that could help?

If the XP installer is giving you BSOD's, that should be a warning to you not to get rid of Linux

Get KNoppix, boot into it, use it to partition everything, you must then use the windows disc to fix the boot loading, then back into Knoppix to resize the NTFS partition.

I think the killing all the linux partitions, booting to the recovery console, and running fixmbr should solve your problems

How would I do this bit?

When you load the windows disc, you haev an option for the recovery console, go into it and do a fixmbr.
