Guild Wars Factions
Do you need Guild Wars to play Faction(if you have only Factions) severs or reglur (if you only have Faction) GW severs?
I'm pretty sure they designed it so that every expansion is self contained and doesn't require any other one.

Ivanova is always right.
I will listen to Ivanova.
I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God.

There is no "I" in TEAM. There is a ME however.

Read the site. Factions-only owners are restricted to Cathay (or whatever they call it) and the battle isles. There's no restriction in content, and you've got full PvP, so 'server' ness doesn't matter. You can, for instance, still join and play with GW-only players on the Battle Isles, or GW+Factions players in Cathay. You just don't get what you haven't paid for.
It's funny, actually: Factions content is already in GW, so I'm finding shit that is wierd and strange to me.

Like what others said, Factions is a stand alone game. But those playing GWF will be restricted to an island while those who have both GW and GWF will have the initial continent (forgot the name) plus the island.
