The Matrix Wars...throw off the shackles of the machines

In the same vein as Stargate Wars, The Matrix Wars is just getting started, and I've already started a faction for SDNet. One interesting quirk is that factions actually give bonuses.

This is probably a stupid question, but how do I join the SDNet Faction?

When you click on the faction name, there should be an apply button somewhere. To be perfectly honest, I'm not totally certain, since I created the faction and thus didn't have to apply.

Um...you also have to be human, since they split the factions by race.

Which, of course, does mean that we could form two factions, one for human SDNetters and one for machine players.

Thanks, I just found the Faction list in a sub menu from Council and applied.

Why aren't you guys attacking?

Just find Machine players in the bottom couple of pages with a base army and lots of resourses and have at them. My first couple I used just 2 soldiers and hauled off over a hundred thousand resources.

I was figuring out how to get to the attack page. It's Offence under Council, which I couldn't find at first.

If you want a machine faction I can just rename mine, but what should I call it? SDN Machines?

My name ingame is Zero Sum.

Anyone know who Maltease 14 is? S/he applied for the clan, but didn't say who they are.

Does anyone know the difference between interior and exterior defences?

Yup, ones when your being beseiged and they are trying to get through the door. Interior is where when they are inside and the floor suddenly disappears below them.

Allow me to rephrase that then.

Does anyone know what the difference within the game is for internal and external defences?

Hm, trading resources for Turns isnt a bad deal...poaching on crappy foes can get you 40k per 15 turns easily. I bought 200 turns for only 27k resources.

Right now I think all they do is add a small percentage to your defense bonus, but the game admin is planning to make them do something specific in the future.

*snickers* There's a wildcard function in the game where if you use * in any box, it does the maximum you can afford to do. I just traded 202k resources for 1223 turns (exchange rate soured a bit between your trade and mine).

Edit: Also, note that you can attack the same species if they're in a faction. Neutrals are off-limits, but I just swiped 300k from a guy in another faction.

I used the 200 turns to get enough money to buy well over 8000 turns :)

Something else I found, do intel on them before you attack, if they have any advanced defenders leave them alone, in a battle with 1 armed, 1 unarmed advanced defender I outnumbered him 3-1 all armed (regulars) and lost.

Hah; I'm in*. The learning curve is short and sharp, and I think I've picked it up rather well, though there are some things I haven't quite gotten the hang of yet ("attack turns"?).

*Can anyone guess what my username is? :P

Your troops inflict 102,871 damage on the enemy army!
The enemy sustains 0 casualties!

lokitty's army counter-attacks and inflicts 37,467 damage to your army!
You sustain 1 casualties!
How does that make sense?

Number of soldiers. The greater the number of soldiers on a side, the greater the odds of a casualty. 10 soldiers with the best weapon will take fewer casualties than 1000 with the worst weapon.

edit: And at risk of starting an Abbot and Costello routine, who is Wot?

It is done.

A faction for our machine players is up and running, simply called "SDN" (better name pending).

Interesting game, but kind of easy. There are tons of players that have virtually no defense, allowing me almost free reign.
