Ghost Recon 2 Demo available

AKA, Ghost Recon 3, though its only the SECOND game released on PC.

Anyway, I say don't bother downloading it. Its absolute garbage. This title is not deserving of the name Ghost Recon at all. The gameplay is fucking shoddy. The controls make me want to vomit. And the graphics leave me with a nasty aftertaste.

And no, I am not joking.

I'm glad they released a demo because now I know I won't buy the game.

Hmm? Is it like GR2? I was really shocked when I played GR2 on consoles: it was nothing like what I expected from a Ghost Recon game.

I wouldn't know. I don't play console pieces of shit.

Ha ha! Now you know how console owners feel every time a sequel comes out - the 'this is shit' sensation. :)

Be more specific! Everyone likes to know about crappy games! :)

To be honest, that is what I felt like when I played the first Ghost Recon game. The graphics were grainy and made my eyes bleed, the gameplay never gelled with me (I kept wanting to play it like a Rainbow Six game), and, well, let's be fair, the controls have never been that great for Clancy games (though finally someone had the sense to put reload on "R", rather than "Z").

This game, I dunno. I downloaded the demo, and immediately I found it better than the piece of shit Lockdown that tried to pass itself off as Rainbow Six. The squad control is pretty nice, and while I'm still trying to get a handle on the command system, it seems pretty well-featured.

As far as graphics go, come on. It's pretty darn good looking, even though it won't win any awards, it still runs better than FEAR and looks reasonably good in doing so.

Look, if you're interested in this sort of game, download it. It doesn't cost you a damn thing, and if you decide you don't like it, delete it, no harm, no foul.

The graphics might be pretty, but the frame rate would make an epeleptic go into a fit.

I ran it fine, the only time I got any stutter was during autosaves, but that's to be expected. What are you running?

Is this GR3 for PC the same as Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (or whatever) on 360? Because my brother has that. I played it for a bit. Was ok. Didn't pull me away from Oblivion, obviously.

Definitely not "Ghost Recon" like it used to be, though.

As far as I can tell, yes, they are supposed to be the same game.

When I saw this thread and who made it, I just knew there would be a tantrum inside. :)

Funny, everyone on the Penny Arcade forums seems to think it's quite nice, although some of them are having loadtime difficulties.

The PC version of GRAW is neither a port of the Xbox or the Xbox 360 version. It's also first person.

Yeah, apparently it runs parallel to the XBox and 360 version but was developed independantly for PC.

So is GRAW ... unless I have chronic amnesia from when I played it last week?

Okay, from what I can tell from the Gamespy article, here are the major differences:

-The Command and Control system is more robust
-The maps are 2-3 times larger
-Several co-op missions have been removed, however...
-Now the entire campaign can be played co-op

I found the demo to be quite enjoyable, myself. Even on low textures it looked pretty good, although I was running everything else on high. The satellite feed is a really great feature, I found I wasn't even bothering to do the old "look and order" all that much with my squad. I wish I could try it out co-op.

I just love how there is an option to tell your team to "follow me". Oh, wait, there isn't. I have to give constant orders for them to move, they will not move and follow ever. They will come to your location on being ordered, but they will stop once they reach that location and will not follow you.

There is. Middle mouse, scroll wheel to "follow", then select with middle mouse.

Edit: To do it for the whole team, scroll to the "team" tab with your scroll wheel.

I did that. They only "follow" me to the location I was at when I made the order and they will not follow me when I leave that location.

They follow me just fine, they're just a little slow in getting there. Haven't found the way to change stances, but it may have something to do with it.

I've had them follow me from the insertion point to the gas station without any problem whatsoever.
