There's a statement on the site (Flash, though, so I can't copy/paste). Totally bonkers...

I'm thinking it fits with their intention of creating a game console everyone could use. Not much else though, and it still doesn't make me want to go out and purchase one.

It's slashdotted already. Though I did get a chance to view it.

I never really cared for Nintendo's final names. The Ultra 64 became the Nintendo 64. The Dolphin became the GameCube. And the Revolution becomes the Wii.

I guess that's one trend Nintendo doesn't want to break.

How on earth did they come up with that... And why? I've always thought that their product names were pretty good. That website just appeared to be full of marketing-speak-bullshit, rather than anything else.

This is for real? Well, I've gone from 'Rev is only console that interests me' to 'whoa, maybe I don't really want one'. I don't fuck girls with stupid names either - I don't want one of my mates to say 'hey, what/who's that?' and have to say 'that's my Wii'.

Hey, I hear they're making a Super Mawiio Brothers game for it!

I actually like it better than Revolution. It's different. Revolution gave me too many flashbacks to the Matrix movies =P

..but yeah, I like Wii. It sets itself apart, and out of all the console names (PS3, 360), I like it the most.
